We recently caught up with one of our favourite shoe designers, Rachel Comey. Whilst she’s known to the menswear blogosphere for her great line of shoes, she also creates a critically acclaimed womenswear range. What we love about Comey’s shoes is the fact that they’re inspired by classic styles as opposed to just replicating them. We know that winter has officially arrived, but we’re still on the lookout for a good summer shoe – we’re oddballs like that. Judging from this shoe, Comey’s got us covered. Some of Comey’s shoes have a tendency to ‘bulge’ at the sides due to the lightness of the material, giving the shoe a slightly cheap look; this shoe avoids that issue by being made from patent leather. The leather sole isn’t ideal for wet weather, but we’d be ready to bring these out as soon as the sun comes out again. (Forward)

Here’s one for the summer lovers. Comey seems to have cracked the secret to great summer shoes -  make them light and make them linen. Putting them on sale in a variety of sizes doesn’t hurt either. These won’t be any good when winter hits, but as the old saying goes, make hay (and wear linen shoes) while the sun shines. (Assembly)

There’s been previews of Rachel Comey’s AW09 collection before, but now we can show you an in-depth look at the collection. Rachel Comey’s move into men’s footwear was always a bit of a surprise to us, but what’s more surprising is how covetable they are. This collection continues in the same vein as previous ones, with the Cooper, Derringer and Flint shoes all making a reappearance. There’s also more boots included, which look like a good alternative for those who don’t want a pair of red wings but do want a shoe that’ll cope with adverse weather.

The fine folks at R29 turn us onto Rachel Comey’s footwear collection for A/W09. The collection hits all the right buttons, with suede shoes, hiking boots and oxfords all making an appearance. As is expected with Comey, All the shoes have a twist, so the oxfords and hiking boots are in canvas and all the shoes have a two tone heel. Take a look at more of the collection after the jump.

Oak got a new shipment of Rachel Comey shoes in. The Derringer Oxford right awayjumped into the eyes. A really nice brown tone upper and then the contrasting wooden sole, make an overall great looking shoe.
