Radiohead "The King of Limbs" Newspaper Album Packaging

After a bit of a wait we finally have a look at the forthcoming “Newspaper Album” version packaging for Radiohead’s “The King of Limbs” release. CR gets the exclusive from Stanley Donwood, who is clearly Radiohead’s go to designer (for like ever). “The artwork is designed in the guise of a Sunday newspaper, complete with plastic packaging printed with the album name and imagery. It contains two 10-inch clear vinyl records in a sleeve, a CD of the album, a perforated blotting-sheet artwork, and a newspaper containing art and texts by Donwood.” Love the blotters, Mr. Donwood.

Selectism - "Radiohead Kid A 33 1/3 " Book

The 10 year anniversary of Radiohead’s “Kid A Radiohead Kid A 33 1/3 Book” fell this past Saturday, October 2nd. For fans like myself, this record was life changing in all sorts of ways. I first heard the record on a heavy head of dstar as it passed through a boombox in my home office. I should have first played it on headphones, but god will forgive me. The 33 1/3 book series from Continuum hits this monumental record next. It will break down and examine each and every track form the “Kid A” LP as well as the recording session through a collection of interviews and insight from those on the scene. I, for one, am very excited. Excepts at 33third. Available November 25th.

Available for pre-order from Amazon Radiohead Kid A 33 1/3 Book.

Selectism - Critical Shopper on Rogan, Bowery

NYT’s Critical Shoppper visits the (recently) new Rogan Store on Bowery iN NYC. We covered the opening a bit ago, but Mike Albo’s description on the clothing is well worth a second mention. "THE solemn clothes and black interior of the new Rogan store on the Bowery made me think of the band Radiohead and other super-serious artists like them who are always photographed with somber expressions in front of gnarled leafless trees…These clothes share that glamorized bleak aesthetic. A black V-neck had neon programming code skittering across the side — very ‘OK Computer.’

I think its more like the horn section in "Idioteque" off of Kid A personally but who’s counting…
