Raf Simons Collegiate Sweatshirts

Raf Simons Sweatshirts

Well, a bit collegiate we shall say. The new Raf Simons autumn sweatshirts could be from anyone based on the design. The simple block lettering suggests pulls from the university life. The quality and fit speak otherwise: “Made from a super soft structured fabric and available in three colorways, these sweaters perfectly express the designer’s take on volume and proportion, embracing a short, boxy silhouete best paired with slim fitting bottoms for added emphasis.” Por Vocacao has them.

Raf Simons 1995 Bomber Jacket

Raf Simons 1995 Bomber Jacket

Raf Simons harks back to the glorious 90s with this bomber jacket, a new arrival over at Oki-Ni. Part of the heritage collection, a celebration of the labels fifteenth anniversary, this piece perfectly sums up the monochrome king’s obsession with all things youth and rebellion. Padded nylon, sheen finish and chrome zips. Classic Raf.

Raf Simons Opens the Doors on his Antwerp Home to WSJ

Raf Simons Opens the Doors on his Antwerp Home to WSJ

WSJ spent some time with designer, Raf Simons, at his home in Antwerp, Belgium. “Designed in 1968—Simons thinks it’s kismet that it’s the year he was born—by a Belgian couple who imported Modernist furniture, the two-story, open-floor-plan apartment is a primer in mid-century Modernism. A longtime collector of mid-century furniture, Simons knew he would buy it the minute he saw the wenge-wood floating staircase, built-in cabinets and floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass windows.”

Raf Simons Spring Blazer

Raf Simons Spring Blazer

Raf Simons releases a new blazer from their Spring/Summer 2011 ready-to-wear collection at thecorner.com. It’s a traditional cotton blazer with just a touch of Elastane to give it some breathing room. Expect a two-button closure with a generous four pocket offering. The jacket comes unlined but has an array of superior ribbing details throughout the garment. A true collaboration of modernism and sophistication with this classic blazer. I have a Raf Simons suit and the fit was always impeccable.

Raf Simons Velcro Closure Belt

Selectism - raf-simons-belt-01

Colour us intrigued. How would a velcro belt would work on us – would we feel like we were five again? And how well would the velcro hold up if you have a good meal? These are all pertinent questions that must be answered. While the sleekness from the outside can’t be denied, we probably feel silly having a belt that used the same material as LA Gears. (Forward)

Raf Simons White Strapped High Tops

Selectism - raf-simons-high-top-01

We’re reticent to proclaim anyone the new anything, but we’ve noticed that Raf Simon’s sneaker options have been looking better and better while Lanvin, the previous holder of the designer high-top title, have been in a slump. We’re also sure that there’s a ’stay strapped’ hip hop reference to be made somewhere, but we’re too lazy to think of one. (Oki-Ni)

Raf Simons Autumn/Winter 2011 Showroom

Raf Simons Autumn/Winter 2011 Showroom

Portugal’s Por Vacacao stopped in at the Raf Simons showroom for Autumn 2011 and took these great shots. “Last month during women’s fashion week, we made a special short trip to Paris to buy the AW11 Raf Simons collection that had already been presented in January but with no appointments made at the time. As we like to get things done first thing, we arrived early at the gigantic, hangar like showroom and had it just for ourselves for a while. With our hands full with one of Raf’s best collections to date…”

Raf Simons for Fred Perry Zipped Sweater

Selectism - raf-simons-fred-perry-zipped-jumper

We hadn’t planned on bigging up a zipped jumper (really, we hadn’t) but this one actually looks good. Part of the ongoing – and seemingly never-ending – collaboration between Raf Simons and Fred Perry, it combines things we should hate on reflex but we can’t because they actually work. (Oki-Ni)

Raf Simons Autumn/Winter 2011 Runway

Raf Simons Autumn/Winter 2011 Runway

Raf Simons delivers looks from their Autumn/Winter 2011 show. While the baggy (oversized) trousers may not work off runway for most, the details and clean lines on their overcoats stand out to us. Vibrant colors are used throughout the collection. Simple color hits work on many pieces as do the clean suitings. The purple trench (bove) with its deep pockets is strong.
