Randolph, MA’s Randolph Engineering continues to produce their sunglasses and eyewear in the United States. They are one of the remaining eyewear manufacturers to do so. This video walks you through their production factory floor for a look at how their eyeglasses are built.

It looks like Bastian really loves those Randolph Engineering sunglasses. The duo is working on a forthcoming Signature collection. Here is what Mr. Bastian has to say about RE: “I have been a huge admirer of Randolph Engineering sunglasses for many years now. To me, they produce the ideal classic masculine sunglass, and I’m very happy to have this opportunity to work together.” The sunglasses debuted during his Spring 2011 runway show and should hit retail around February 2011.

Massachusett’s own Randolph Engineering is one of the few remaining sunglasses manufacturers in the United States. Many know their frames and eyewear from movies like “Taxi Driver” and  the AMC shoe “Mad Men.” Truth is they offer a great deal more than what most know about. Their hunting and shooting frames are among the world’s best. Try them out.

But while we’re talking about fashion, we should highlight a look at a slightly redesigned version of their popular P3 model, which were originally intended for use in submarines. The new style of the P3 was developed with a larger eye size and extended temple for a more general fit. Bright chrome option and skull temples are also now available.

It’s hard to find a classic sunglass line with heritage that has never ceased to produce their eyewear products in the USA. Randolph Engineering is one of the few. Based in Massachusetts (close to my heart), Randolph Engineering began as an actual engineering firm in the early 70’s but really began to get things going in 1982 when the they became a Department of Defense supplier. Since them Randolph Engineering continues to supply air forces in the United States and worldwide with their aviator eyewear. You’ll likely find them today in a variety of shops from the Saks Fifth Ave’s and Steven Alan to high end gaming and fishing shops like Orvis.
