If you were disappointed by the CDG/H&M collection – or far more likely, didn’t get anything before the rabid fans took every size apart from XL – then you’ll be glad to know that Rei Kawakubo is launching a new line named ‘Homme Deux’. Details are non-existent at the moment, but that will all change come January, when the line will be showcased at Pitti Imagine Uomo. (via pitti imagine via men.style)

Now we’ve all seen the full Comme des Garçons for H&M collection, we can now read Rei Kawakubo tell us herself why she did this collection. The Independent has an article chronicling the collection and has a couple of quotes from Kawakubo herself. When asked why she’d do this collaboration she answered, “I was interested in selling Comme des Garçons in a new place where it has never been sold before and to people who may never have heard of it. Usually, Comme des Garçons only sells in places where people who understand it go”.

Selectism - H&M to Launch Comme des Garcons Collection

Big announcement on the business wire this morning. “Comme des Garçons’ founder and head designer Rei Kawakubo will create this autumn’s guest designer collection at H&M… Rei Kawakubo, famous and admired for her creativity and artistry, will design a women’s and a men’s collection, with some pieces for children too. Accessories and an exclusive unisex fragrance will also be included in the collection…

The world launch of the collection will be at the opening of H&M’s second store in Tokyo, Japan, in the beginning of November. Launch date for other H&M markets will be a few days later.”

H&M’s team-up with designer, Rei Kawakubo, is a major step for H&M in the Japanese market and the Harajuku specifically, which is beginning to see an influx of big retail establishments moving into grounds once held by smaller, niche labels.
