Rizzoli is set to release a look back at the history of the Rick Owens collection as well as the designer himself. The book, Rick Owens, was designed by Owens himself. The single volume collections the full-span of his career with images “detailing all aspects of the designer’s work and sensibility. The visual narrative of this book provides an instructive look at the process of design from an artist who is at once comfortable with innovation and respectful of traditional approaches.” Coming this October 2011.

DRK SHDW is the shit. Point. Thsi long sleeve tshirt comes in a slightly elogated fit that is meant to drape on some while hugging others. It has a bit of a worn look (description shows this but unsure if I see it), as well as a hood and drawstring. This is a garment made for a wearer who feels comfortable even when you don’t. We’ve decided to continue our penchant for seasonally bizarre picks, this time going with this Rick Owens leather jacket, which we shot during our trip down to LN-CC. It’s not much good for now (unless you’re in the UK, where the weather refuses to pick up) but it’s one to keep an eye out for. (LN-CC)

Ln-cc carries the Autumn 2011 Rick Owens collection. This long mohair sweater will be of interest to some. “This knit sweater is knitted from off-white mohair-mix yarns. The sweater features a wide ribbed high neck collar, ribbed cuffs and a ribbed hemline. It has a long fit and is knitted to have a loose looped texture.”

Hey you! Yes, you. We know you’re thinking ‘I’d never wear anything by Rick Owens, it’s gothninja steeze’. Take a step back, broaden those horizons and look at these trainers. We know it’s not cool to like Rick Owen’s footwear anymore – it’s all about Wolverine boots, Pitti Uomo street style and aping 1920’s train drivers – but they still look cool. Interview Magazine for their July/June 2011 issue put Rick Owens head to head with Kris Van Assche for a sit down interview. Mr. Owens probed Assche regarding his return to Dior. In his words:

“All my friends were just telling me don’t do it because it’s gonna be so tough. Usually when people take over an old house, or a line, it’s because it’s almost dead. But that was not the case at Dior. I was taking over a success story, which is really tough to do, because nobody wants you to do the same thing and nobody wants you to change. But it’s still one of those propositions you can’t really refuse, because it was the possibility to do everything that was impossible at my old label.”

We’re starting to feel like unofficial high top ambassadors these days with our constant coverage of them. This time it’s a Rick Owens pair that we can find no fault with. Aside from the price obviously. But hey, it’s not like rent has to be paid, is it? (Farfetch)

The Independent delivers a fairly personal article with designer, Rick Owens. While it goes further into his personal life further in, I’m more taken with the discussion of his life-size wax sculptures. “Rick Owens is face to face with a life-size wax sculpture of himself, staring out of shredded wadding and packed in a wooden crate in a corner of his London store. It’s an oddly unnerving sight, as the cult Californian designer is first to admit: brown-eyed and eerily close in appearance to the man himself, the look of it is made no less disturbing by the fact that it is severed from the waist down – it has no legs… Owens objects for less obvious reasons: ‘It’s not nearly disgusting enough..’

We’ve always thought Rick Ross’ most ridiculous  claim was that he wore Rick Owens. Yeah, saying you were a drug dealer who met Noriega was silly but, really, him in Rick Owens?  Next he’ll be saying he’s a small in Band of Outsiders. So here’s something else for Rawse to lie about wearing. (Farfetch)

There’s always a couple of Rick Owens pieces per season that even your most sprezzy of friends could wear and this is one of them. I mean, who can say no to a black coat? You could even wear it with some chinos and loafers and go all Ivy on us. It is Rick Owens though, so expect the price to stop a few of you from trying that look. (Farfetch)
