A new year and a new range of espadrilles from Rivieras who have done a great jon of re-imagining that all-around leisure shoe of the shores. For 2012, the Rivieras lines add a variety of new textiles including suede leathers on the espadrille upper, denim (which works well without going over the top) and a model that reminds of of the great Nike HTM wovens of years past. Well worth exploring. We showcase a handful of our favorites.

This summer seems like the start of a new awareness for the Rivieras line of ship-on liesure shoes. Sure the Mediterranean world has been on them for ages, but with new takes on weaving and, suedes, and natural fibers on their uppers, the rest of the world may start strolling in the brand. The leather insole is about as good as it gets for allowing your feet to breathe in the warm weather.

Rivieras works a special all black colorway of their Model 20°c which is a mixed canvas and open mesh loafer. The loafer will be on sales exclusively at “Le Noir et le Rouge” a Rivieras pop up shop from June – August  at Surface To Air’s  flagship store on 108 rue Vieille du Temple in  Paris.

Rivieras has teamed up with Parisian brand Surface To Air. Entitled ‘Le Noir et le Rouge’, the brand has designed three colorways of the summer shoe, resulting in a simple, yet very solid look.

Fabrizio Coveddu and Dan Amazallag are the duo behind the new brand, Rivieras. A company launched in 2010 the guys wanted to bring the classic “leisure shoe” back into the mainstream. “These classic leisure shoes from the French Riviera have been souped up with high
quality mesh and canvas, a padded leather inner sole for extra comfort, and a small gold Rivieras insignia for a touch of luxury. Just as the originals, the outer sole is made of rubber.” The shoe comes in three colorways: Noir, Marine and Beige. The combination of
mesh and canvas allow for a very versatile shoe. A great addition to any summer wardrobe. It’s available at Gargyle.
