Fans of cycling and design in general will appreciate this new book on all things Cinelli bikes from Rizzoli. Cinelli: The Art and Design of the Bicycle is a 200+ page book looking over more than 65 years of Cinelli bicycle building and design. “Cinelli has led the evolution of professional cycling and defined the ideal of the classic bicycle: from the classic Supercorsa racing frame to the cutting-edge MASH fixed-gear pursuit bikes ubiquitous on the urban riding scene; from innovations such as the first plastic racing saddles to the controversial Spinaci handlebars, banned from competition; and from timeless components, such as the Alter stem, to iconic meetings of art and design such as Keith Haring’s treatment of the hour record-setting Laser.” It sits next to a short list of books looking over the world of bicycle design.

What turned us onto this video was the Margiela website relaunch teaser for June 2012. You can view that video here.
But the next video to pop up in the Youtube carousel is a look inside their 2009 book, Maison Martin Margiela. While this is not news to many, it is a nice look inside for those who have not been made aware of the book that helps document and archive the designers work over the past decades. Lucky for us, Rizzoli has kept this one in print and it is still available from finer bookstores as well as online through Amazon.
Take a look inside below.

How about that for a exclamation: “Tomboys are confident, rebellious, and adventurous. They are bold, brazen, fierce—and sexy.” We’ll agree with that.
The new Rizzoli photography book, Tomboy Style: Beyond the Boundaries of Fashion captures the beauty of the style of menswear-inspired fashion for women. Stereotypes are broken with the tomboy look which have spun new lines from frontline brands like BOY by Band of Outsiders and J. Crew. Tomboy Style is a visual history of the tomboy movement over the last 80 years. Commentary is included throughout the photo book. As mentioned in the release: “Atomboy is not just about style—tomboys are measured in equal parts wardrobe and spirit.”

Made in New York: Handcrafted Works by Master Artisansis a look at the the hand made movement’s return to prominence in everyday living. They call it a “renaissance” in the release for the book. Made in New York brings readers inside the studios of master glassblowers, wood carvers, hat-makers – just about all the finer crafts are covered and re-discovered. Use it as a sourcebook if you will.
Not the usual tome for us but an interesting book for those looking for a different angle on fashion. Born of noble lineage-and the granddaughter of the famed fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli-Berenson’s meteoric rise began formally at age sixteen, leading to numerous covers and editorials in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar.” The book is a solid coffee table addition for anyone with an interest in the history of world around fashion.
