New York deisgner, Robert Geller sat down with the good people at Frillr. The Hamburg born designer opens up on his thoughts on design today and his brand. On his work with Cloak, Mr. Geller says, “I owe a lot to Alexandre for showing me how things work. It is actually quite shocking how many things have to fall into place for things to work in this business.”

From the pages of their lookbook, comes some imagery from Robert Geller’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection. As usual, Cultures In Between does a fantastic job of prefacing the collection. "New York based designer Robert Geller has stormed through the financial dark times and although this was not his initial conceptual cue his new collection for Spring/Summer 2009 embodies more of a personal celebration…His personal trip to Eastern Europe translated into a grey and monochromatic palette of linens, wool and leather. A breath of finely sharp masculine tailoring of dark washed denim pants, a black single breasted jacket and a linen striped jacket with cropped pants and unbuttoned cardigan provided an elongated yet slim silhouette."

Men.style tapped our friends at Blackbird Seattle for a spot in their Fall 2008 Buyers Guide. Congrats to them for being the tastemakers we have always known them to be. In particular, we could not not talking about their backpack pick; a gem from Robert Geller. "We have seen a lot of backpacks lately but Geller’s really stands out above the rest. The techy design manages to stay surprisingly subtle and most importantly, very functional." Find it now for 1607$ US. We’re not sure what the extra $7 are for but we assume fuel.

We give you a look at the Robert Geller Fall/Winter 2008 collection. The designer with German heritage has been trained after attending the Rhose Island School Of Design at Marc Jacobs. Since 2005 he runs his own label, carrying his name, with much success.

The new Fall/Winter 2008 collection stays very much in the grey/black tones and plays with layers as well as with different lengths of the layers. In other colors the look would have been more messy, but Robert Gellers color combinations make it work and give it an overall clean look.

Expect it to land soon in stores such as Odin NYC and Roden Gray Vancouver.

Since launching his own line in 2007, Robert Geller has continued to design for the man who recognizes quality Japanese construction as well as design. His 2008 fall/winter collection for men provides very wearable looks that are casual and street smart.

Robert Geller’s history in fashion is a strong one. He graduated from RISD, made the rounds at Marc Jacobs and the moved into a position as partner and collaborator for Cloak. Geller first went out on his own in 2005 launching his women’s line Harald but re-emerged into menwear in 2007 under his own name.

The Robert Geller Spring 08 collection, entitled “Beuys Dont Cry” takes from his experience growing up in Los Angeles and blends the Venice skate/surf lifestyle into a modern West Coast inspired look.
