Jas M.B. Canvas Vintage Rucksack

We’ve liked the rucksacks doing the rounds but they’re all a bit…petite. Personally, we’d like something a little heft to it, something like this bag right here. It’s hard to express how big a bag is without giving the measurements but, as we’ve been wearing this around town for a while now, this bag isn’t for the folks who only carry a moleskine. It’s made from a durable canvas, the leather is tough as old boots and it’s also made in England if you’re a stickler for that sort of thing. (ASOS)

Take a leap to see those detailed images.

Ally Capellino ‘Alphonse’ Rucksack

selectism - ally-capellino-alphonse-02

Ally Capellino’s SS10 collection saw a new addition to the family in the form of the ‘Alphonse’ rucksack. It’s got all the typical components of an Ally Capellino bag – well made, quintessentially British, canvas and all that good stuff – and has the added bonus of having a vintage rucksack shape. Size-wise you can’t carry the world on your shoulders, but there’s enough room for the essentials. (Ally Capellino)

Filson Green Rucksack

This is one of those obvious picks. Not that we’re ‘over’ Filson or anything, but at this point, everyone knows about them. Everyone knows the level of quality in their bags, the rugged finish, the vegetable tanned leather handles and the fact they’re made in the USA – so there’s no need for us to go on about it. What we will say is that the green makes a nice change from the usual navy (we’re sure you’ve got at least one navy bag already) and it costs £215. (Oi Polloi)

Plenty of detailed images after that leap.

Lavenham Quilted Rucksack

We’re torn. We hate those Barbour quilted jackets, but love the quilted effect. Our way around this earth shatteringly important problem would be to get a quilted accessory. If, for some crazy reason, you’re not entirely sold on quilted accessories then this rucksack is a good entry level piece – if you can proxy it over from Japan, that is. At a converted price of £146/$242, it’s affordable whilst not being bargain basement cheap and the corduroy trim is enough to give it a quirk. It’s a shame that a product like this is Japan only, but that’s the way it is sometimes. (Museum Arks)

Head Porter Tanker Standard Rucksack

selectism - head-porter-tanker-backpack-01We’re starting to think that hunts for the ‘perfect’ version of anything are overrated – especially when it comes to accessories. No one accessory can be perfect for every occasion, so we’d recommend having a team of bags instead. This Head Porter bag is a perfect bag for when those casual days – those days when leather or canvas feel a little stuffy and pretentious. Of course there’s the counter argument that importing your bags from Japan is prententious in itself, but that aside, this bag’s a perfect reason to get your proxy on. (Head Porter)

This Margaret Howell rucksack is the perfect size for a day bag when you’ll need to carry a few items for a day out and about.
