The boot Gods must have been listening. Delivering a pair of Navy Russell Moccasin Bird Shooters unto us is the universes way of telling us that everything is going to be ok and that we are being watched over by kindly footwear spirit animals. So distracting are these shoes that writing this is becoming difficult, they’re up there aren’t they? Just leering at us.

Being a product of Russell Moccasin’s fair hand expect these to not only be incredibly attractive but look after your feet with their comfort and durability credentials (they have been in business since 1898 after all). This colourway has us a little hysterical, in a mid-90s front row at a Jodeci concert kind of way.  Silver and Gold has them.

Russel Moccasin brings a new product for the season. The “Thula Thula”, which means “Quietley…Quietly in Zulu” is the name given to their new boot. This boot is there answer to all those clunky noise-maker boots out there today. The “Under foot is a 6.5 oz bull hide vampe, (the leather of the upper that wraps completely around the foot), a tough 10 oz. Bull hide leather molded outer sole and a 10 oz. Bull hide slip sole plus a layer of Turtleskin Thron Amor.” It can’t get any better than this with all these features. The shoe also comes in a 4” model as well as the “Huron” version that’s similar to a boat shoe style. With three different sole selections, this boot dominates. The original moccasin company that has been manufacturing shoes and boots for over 10 decades, releases their Chukka boot. These hybrid shoes fill the “gap between the sport oxford and a regular boot.” The great part about this boot/shoe is the “uppers are specially tanned to make them water repellent,” and have “crepe rubber soles” that are really comfortable and are seen in many of todays current style shoes. In all seriousness, the “exotic shoes” are a great reminder of Russell’s heritage as a real hunting outfitter. On a style note, some of these will make you look like an asshole. Then again, if you choose to wear them (for style) that is probably the point.

We cover a staggering amount of chukkas but that’s how the trend rolls right now. I guess we’ll keep covering them as long as the factories keep kicking out great looks for the masses to choose from. The latest from the Nepenthes online site in the form of this killer colorway from Russell Moccasin. “Dirty beige” as the writer next to me describes it.
