Video | Saint Augustine Academy – Rooms for the Memory

“The film takes inspiration from the hedonistic Post-punk sub-culture of the 1970’s, and is set in Sydney’s contemporary art and music community. The story unfolds around a broken relationship and has dual interpretations: one sequentially, and another where the time line is interspersed with the central character’s memories.”

Selectism - Saint Augustine Academy Autumn/Winter 2010

Saint Augustine Academy’s Autumn/Winter 2010 is entitled, “The Lamentations of Euchrid the Mute.” The theme of the line’s name is pulled from the Nick Cave novel, “And the Ass Saw the Angel.” “As a lyricist and actor, Cave’s novel is an innovative, wildly idiosyncratic, tall tale satirizing religious fanaticism. Euchrid Eucrow, a twin who is lone survivor in birth, grows up silent in the 1890’s in the sectarian town of Ukulore, a rural swamp peopled with the fanatical, the sinners, and the tricksters.”

Today is “bowtie war” day at Selectism. Mr. Dike posted the Hackett bowtie this morning. I challenge him to a duel with this selection of bowties from Saint Augustine Academy of Australia. We featured their menswear collection yesterday but felt it necessary to show Mr. Dike that the other side of the hemisphere is emerging quickly as a fashion powerhouse.  Who will reign supreme?

The Spring/Summer 2009 from Australia’s Saint Augustine Academy is themed “Do you Believe Her.” The collection, which falls on the opposing side of the globe, stays in trend with fitted skinny jeans, draped shirts, and classic wear that pulls influence from the the man looking to be a touch more dapper in twisted way.

St. Augustine Academy “Corpus Christi Carol ” Spring 2009

Australian designer, Alvin Monalo’s Saint Augustine Academy line, now on his 9th season of menswear, continues to be inspired by music and sound. ”To quote Alvin, AW09 (Spring 09 in the northern hemisphere) was inspired by “the three M’s… Medieval Royalty, Monks and Motorbikes”. In true Saint Augustine Academy form Corpus Christi Carol was borne from music. Named after the Jeff Buckley song, which is a cover of a 1508 hymn, the range references medieval and religious detailing, channeling the ornamental construction and detail featured in royalty’s robes and gowns of the time.”
