Selectism - Levi's Tailor Shop in San Francisco, CA

Happy 4th! ACL gets the scoop on a great new offering from the Levi’s house. “Launching today — for all you denim loving patriots — at the Levi Strauss & Co. flagship store in San Francisco (Union Square) is the Levi’s Tailor Shop, a one-of-a-kind customization area with special goods and services. The LS&CO folks have outfitted the Tailor Shop with a chain stitch machine, an embroidery machine and a darning machine (for repairs or maybe just to get the repaired look). At the tailor shop you can also make your own buttons, choose vintage patches, screen print to fully customize your jeans.”

Anchor Steam Christmas Ale

selectism - Anchor Steam Christmas Ale

Since 1975, San Francisco’s Anchor Brewing has offered an annual Christmas Ale. Unlike other brewers, who stick to the same tried and true year in and out, Anchor uses the holidays as a time to experiment. Each year, the recipe changes. And, each year, the design of the label shifts ever so slightly.

There have been times where Anchor’s Christmas beer totally wowed. Other years, it has disappointed. The spirit with which they brew, and the yearly experimentation, however, make it a must every holiday season.*

*While I’ve not tasted the 2009 vintage yet, my brother reports that it is a touch sweeter than previous iterations.
