Caps. What needs to be said about a good cap? They protect your head from too much sun, too much rain and even too much wind. There are all kinds of hats in the world. Here are seven that recently made us want to put one on.

You know that old saying about paper hats, right? A man who wears a paper hat has no right to complain about the rain. Alright, so we might have made that up, but the only way to test the mettle of its content is to don yourself a paper cap and see what the weather does to it.

If you are one who delights in testing the validity of silly invented sayings, your best bet might be this Japonism Panama Cap from our reliably avante garde buds at SASQUATCHfabrix. Yup: the upper on this proper little cap is woven entirely from paper. The interior is cotton, but to the world-at-large, you are wearing a paper hat. Our guess is that the rain will roll right off of the thing, which will allow you get right in our faces and tell us what a stupid adage we invented some thirty seconds ago. Sasquatchfabrix are one of our favourite brands. The Inoue Brothers are one of our favourite brands. So what happens when you mix those two together? You get a post about it. And some clothes, including this cardigan. The oversized cardigan is always a fiddily one to wear – do you use it as a layer or a jacket? – this one works well as a makeshift jacket. LN-CC has them.

Here’s a jacket that’ll leave you getting a little Tweet* with yourself. We’re quite the fans of Sasquatchfabrix, they’re crazy in all the right ways. Take this varsity-esque jacket for instance, there’s a fuzzy wool blend on the body, cowhide leather on the sleeves and gold quilting on the lining. It sounds wrong in text but so right when looking at the finished article. And it’s the sort of thing that’ll allow you to take day off from the styling. Seriously, just wear some denim, a white shirt and you’ll be good to go with this jacket on. (LN-CC)

If you’ve read this site before you’ll know we’ve got a thing for sweatshirts. We could blow on about their history but who cares really? We like ‘em because they look good and we look good in them.  And you can never have enough stuff that makes you look good nahmean? Classic with a twist is the most overused phrase in menswear but there are times when it fits. This is one of them. (LN-CC)

We covered this impressive Japanese collaboration a while back, the coming together of SASQUATCHfabrix and The Inoue Brothers to produce something unusual, modern and beautifully crafted. Incredibly rare fabrics and fibres found in South America via Inoue styled by the Tokyo-centric SASQUATCH, this is ‘Modern Ninja and the Black Fist’. Progressive London store LN-CC bring us this video of the opening night of the collection and speak to the guys behind this superb line.

The Inoue Brothers (who we’ve done a feature on) have teamed with another brand we like, Sasquatchfabrix, to create this capsule collection of knitwear. As you can see, it’s a collaboration in the purest sense of two companies bringing what they do best and merging it. Not just the lazy old ’slap your fabric on top of my existing design and call it a collab’ nonsense we see every other day.

The collection itself is a couple of jumpers, a cardigan and some scarves – all mixing in Inoue’s knowledge of knitwear and the design touches we like from Sasquatchfabrix. Take a look for yourself after the leap. (LN-CC)

We’d planned on saying something about desert boots being an essential but then we gave ourselves a movie-esque slap and said ‘there are no essentials in fashion’. But there are stuff we like and stuff we don’t, this goes under the ’stuff we like’. If you like it, cool, if you don’t, go that way. (LN-CC)

Socks are often treated like the forgotten sibling in menswear – mainly because it’s impossible to write about them without sounding like a trainspotter – but here’s some we’d like to flag up.
