Our friends at James Perse continues their great work with the Seavees line of footwear. Their latest work comes in the form of a brush suede lace-up court shoe; a slight change from the Perse/Seavees slip-on offering. California 60’s style remains the theme. The eyelet guides show off a subtle detail. Clean and wearable by all.

Seavee’s low top sneaker, above, was inspired by the standard, generic trainer worn on base during the 60’s at Camp Irwin, an Armored Combat Training Area located in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County. The upper is made from soft nylon twill with antique nickel on the eyelets. Awfully simple and ready to wear. Find them online.

SeaVees are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps by making these pilmsolls. A portion of the money for each shoe is donated to the Peace Corps and it’s available at J.Crew and SeaVees online store. Most importantly, it has that Larry David swag everyone needs in their life. We’re still on the hunt for a new spring sneaker that isn’t a purcell. No hate thrown against the purcell, but it doesn’t hurt to find something new – everything that’s classic had to start as new at some point and all that nonsense. So this time we’re considering this Seavees ‘army issue’ sneaker. It’s not exactly a world away from the spring footwear we usually like but sometimes we like something that’ll compliment an outfit instead of overpowering it. (Blackbird)

With floral patterns and camoflague coming out the wazzoo this spring, it looks this will be the season guys stop being so scared of mixing patterns. As long as the colours go together you’ll be fine. Pieces like this could easily work well with some plain chinos and a floral print shirt. And if you look bad, you can always change. (Tres Bien)

This Spring, one of our favorite sneakers, the 09/63 plimsoll from SeaVees, gets dressed in linen. The silhouette will continue to find color inspiration from the riches of Pantone, which launched the matching system in 1963. Four colors are available now, all muted and all perfectly suited for denim or rolled chinos.

In February of 1964, Surfing Magazine highlighted the surf adventure of Californians headed south to Baja. SeaVees celebrates the legendary “Sufari to Baja” with the 02/64 Baja Slip on, a shoe with textured linen uppers. The simple utilitarian shoe is lined with naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic bamboo canvas – a total win considering you’d never wear socks with these bad boys.
