One of our favorite brand stories of the last few years comes from SeaVees. With all of the heritage revitalization going on, the refreshing concept behind the “relaunch” of the California brand has not gone unnoticed. Derek Galkin and Steven Tiller were kind enough to discuss their vision with us. The result is a short feature outlining their inspiration for a contemporary vision of SeaVees and their dedication to unearthing exciting tidbits of 1960s California culture.

We covered Seavees a while back but ACL brings us word of the latest “All White” model. “White is the basis for all 587 colors found in the original PMS guide” as they mention on the product site. We love them for what they are not. Simple, to the point, wearable and priced nice at $110.

From their pop-up store with the Gap to their eyewear collection, Pantone is moving quickly in branding their colors out into world of fashion. ”With the creation of the 09/63, SeaVees celebrates the founding of Pantone and the release of the first PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM. For the first time in their 45 year history and through an exclusive agreement, Pantone has allowed an external design team into their hallowed archives. SeaVees cofounders Steven Tiller and Derek Galkin selected seven vintage colors from the original Pantone color guide. The palette, chosen from the only authentic guide known to exist, epitomizes the cool, casual style of California in 1963.”
