Self Edge Chambray Shirt

We might as well call it “hard” ware. The very best of workwear continues to re-filter onto the shores of the USA. Self Edge is bringing it back home with these “Made in SF” Chambray Shirts. “Our take on a classic western chambray shirt stays true to classic stylings but adds a few twists. The front pockets have been flipped, pocket flaps are a curved arcuate shape, and the buttons are a little different than what’s normally found on a vintage shirt like this” Available now in long and short sleeve from Self Edge.

Buzz Rickson Navy Pea Coat 1910 Model

buzz-rickson-navy-peacoat-front Buzz Rickson Navy Pea Coat 1910 Model

You have to work hard to get the construction on those old classic jackets proper. Buzz Rickson is one of those companies that will everything in their power to get it right. Their take on the classic 1910 model of the Naval Peacoat is a prime example. “The US Navy’s original pea-coat was fabricated from heavy, 36-ounce melton wool and, up until the late 1930’s, featured black bakelite buttons displaying an anchor surrounded by 13 stars; the 13 stars were derived from the original 13 states when the United States became an independent nation and broke its ties to England in 1776. The large-sized collar of the coat was designed to block strong ocean winds and the corduroy-lined side pockets helped thwart the numbing effect on hands from the biting winter seas..” Find it now at Self Edge (becoming regulars on Selectism!).

Selectism - Real Japan Blues Chambray Shirt

The quality of this Real Japan Blues Chambray Shirt is what is drawing our praise at the moment. As Self Edge describes it,  "This shirt appears to be salmon colored but is actually made up of 7 different colors of yarn, none of which are the color of the shirt." A very All American look but in a garment that has the fit and feel of Japanese quality and detail. Mother of Pearl buttons and all. Available now at Self Edge.

From Self Edge comes Patina Shoes

Selectism - From Self Edge comes Patina Shoes

Self Edge, arguably the premiere shop for Japanese denim in the USA is about to open doors to a new venture in footwear called Patina. Scheduled to open later in the summer, Patina plans to carry house brand mens leather shoes by “remaking and re-tweaking” classic mens styles. All leather shoes are customizable (just about every panel on the Patina line will be interchangeable). Expect an 8 week wait for them, but hey, is that not the fun of customer cobblering.

Rumor has it as well that the price-point will remain very reasonable for the sector; remaining under 600$US. Quoting Kiya Babzani, “Our plan is for Patina to do for footwear what Self Edge did for denim in America.”

RTEmagicC_selfedge_cycling_5.jpg Self Edge x Iron Hearts Cyclist Denim

Self Edge and Iron Heart have come together to bring you the world’s first pair of jeans designed from the ground up for cyclists. It was only a matter of time, that somebody would take the needs of the cycling community into consideration on something as basic as denim.  Months of testing and analyzing where other jeans failed during extended use while cycling led to the creation of the SEXIH03 - to create a middle ground between fashion and functionality.  For those that enjoy artisan Japanese denim, cycling, and fashion these are the ultimate pair of jeans. Made in Japan from the world’s heaviest weight denim coming in at twenty-one ounces per square yard.

Special features on the denim include: Extra belt loops at the rear of the waistband to avoid torn loops from backpack usage and to prevent the pulling down of the waistband if a belt is worn while riding, spring loaded clip metal key fob hanging from front belt loop, reinforced crotch rivet, crotch cross-stitch moved 1” forward to delay crotch blow-outs and for the comfort of the rider, rear pockets sized to fit a mini U-Lock, higher rise in the back, lower rise in the front for maximum comfort and mobility and more.

Only 125 pairs of the selvedge indigo model and 25 of the non-selvedge black model were made. Both will be retailing for 360 USD. The SEXIH03 and SEXIH03BK will go on sale in-store on Saturday November 24th and will be available at www.selfedge.com on December 1st.

After the jump detailed images of both models.
