Stone Island Shadow Project Wool Blazer Jacket

Stone Island Shadow Project Blazer

This technical blazer from Stone Island’s Shadow Project is a fine example of forward leadership in the high end technical outwear market. “Designed to bridge the distance between elegance and protection, it is an optimal combination of tradition and technology. The natural wool face is laminated to a waterproof, windproof, and breathable performance membrane with a synthetic backer. Liner-less 3-ply construction and taped seams result in garments that are truly contemporary in both their aesthetics and range of use.” Blue and Green has it.

Stone Island Shadow Project Long Sleeve Raglan T-Shirt

Stone Island Shadow Project Long Sleeve Raglan T-Shirt

Carlo Rivetti’s Stone Island brand brings a very interesting collection from the Stone Island Shadow Project for Spring 2011. All the design details are fine tuned to each piece which makes the collection so interesting. “Stone Island Shadow fabrics are carefully chosen for their balance of performance technologies and the unique aesthetic treatments and values for which Stone Island has been famous since its inception.” The “Long Sleeve Catch Pocket Raglan Tee” is a 100% jersey cotton shirt and offers a ribbed neck and cuffs. The one detail that really distinguishes the shirt is the vertical “catch pocket.” This pocket allows for a secure hold on items. As you bend over, the shirt pocket is able to secure items from falling out. Most pocket tees similar to this shirt never really held anything securely it was almost just an aesthetic detail that served no real purpose, but thanks to the Stone Island guys we no longer have this problem. It’s offered in the blue and black color way. UNION has it.

Selectism - Stone Island Shadow Project Collection Fall/Winter 2008/09

The combination of classic silhouettes and advanced technologies has proven an interesting sub-trend in contemporary fashion. Most of these focus on adding a tweak here or there, or reinterpreting a garment in a new fabric. The STONE ISLAND SHADOW project takes the step further. In some respects it reverses logical thinking. Garments are reformed from the inside.

A collaborative effort between Stone Island and Acronym the Shadow Project is a merger. A completely new theoretical tack on the preexisting archival resources of Stone Island, through the lens of Acronym. We present you a preview of the ‘08-’09 line, complete with the intriguing full story behind the aims and goals of this ambitious work.

We preview Stone Island’s Shadow Project for Fall/Winter 2008/09 including a technical video walkthrough of the line after the jump.

Stone Island’s Shadow Project

Selectism - Stone Island's Shadow Project

When you team up Mr. Errolson Hugh, the mastermind behind the Acronym with a high end sportwear line like Italy’s Stone Island, you can bet that it will have everyone talking about the end product. For months we’ve known of the team-up but now we have some solid info via Sportwear International. “With Stone Island’s (stoneisland.com) rich historical archive and its forward development resources as a starting point, Acronym worked on their strong technical and performance based roots. The result is a unique and unprecedented fusion of form and function. Proven functional principals from both military and active sportswear allow the individual items in the collection to work both alone and, most effectively, synergistically together. The grid itself is independent of seasonal and aesthetic change…the grid is comprised of 4 categories and includes a total weather protection shield jacket, a vest, a light shell blazer with windstopper and a long sleeve interlock T-Shirt. The fabrics are all breathable, moisture managing and maintainable.”

Be sure to check back shortly for more on the Shadow Project.
