workers 01 Workers Japan Latest Collection December 2011

Workers return with a new selection of goods. The Japanese company holds a place in our hearts with its no-nonsense approach to repros. This time round they are offered two shawl collared deck jackets, one in pinstripe, one in brown herringbone; USN shirts in chambray and khaki green; a 70z cotton tool bag, and two selvedge ties. Everything is made to order, inspired by the original as well as the wealth of knowledge accrued by the label.

Hit the site and click on the ‘Work Clothing‘ section to see where these Workers are coming from.

Obey ‘Drifter’ Shawl Collar Cardigan

30 August 2010, 17.30 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Selectism - obey-drifter-shawl-collar-cardigan-01

This is more of a jacket/cardigan hybrid (a cardiacket?) but for labelling purposes, we’ve just called it a cardigan. We don’t usually feature Obey (read: never) but this piece is practically tailor made for these pages. The stripes are a little Kolor-esque (that’s a good thing) and it’s rather affordable at $135. In the words of whoever sings on that Jay-Z song, what more can we say? (Blackbird)

Quesorvel Aran Knit Cardigan

Yep, we’re already looking at chunky knitwear. It’s never too soon – at least, not in our books – to look at layering options. A well made cardi should be in everyone’s arsenal, especially one that can double as a light jacket in the right conditions (read: when it’s not raining). The only problem with this is that you’ll have to get your proxy on to get hold of this (you can get it on at sites like Sutocorp). (Museum Arks)

Polo Ralph Lauren Shawl Collar Cardigan

This piece isn’t gonna change the world  – we mean, it’s Ralph Lauren after all. But it is a good looking (some might say handsome) piece that’ll slot into your wardrobe and it’s available on sale. Aside from that, it also avoids Rugby’s oversized logo problem, which is a bonus. (Nitty Gritty)

Patrik Ervell Shawl Collar Cardigan

Like Diddy, we can’t and won’t stop posting up sale picks. This is another Patrik Ervell piece and this time it’s a shawl collar cardigan from his online store. It’s a pretty standard piece aside from the snap closure, which give it a nice twist and make it a little more light jacket-y than most cardigans. Despite the quality of this piece, we still wouldn’t risk it in this random downpours. (Patrik Ervell)

Albam Irwin Shawl Collar Cardigan

We know what you’re thinking – yet another shawl collar cardigan. But, to our surprise, it’s still hard to find a good, thick collared, shawl collared cardy. It’s times like this we go to Albam. Like most Albam pieces, they’re not trying the reinvent the wheel, but you don’t need with with a cardigan. Just make it good, make it grey and make it comfy. Act quick though, these sell out fast. (Albam)

The Inoue Brothers Autumn/Winter 2010 Chunky Bubble Cardigan

Skipping that awkward spring knitwear collection, The Inoue Brothers have returned with their Autumn/Winter 2010 range. While most of their collection is best appreciated in the flesh, we felt we should draw special attention to this bubble knit cardigan. An eco-friendly company, The Inoue Brothers avoid the guilt trip and focus on creating desirable clothing with high quality materials. Each piece is hand made by a team of Bolivian knitters, using alpaca wool and andean highland wool to create a cardigan that’s both soft and warm – something we can’t say for many of our favourite brands. As for the cardigan itself, the shawl collar is reassuringly thick and the bubble pattern makes this a step up from the other shawl collar cardies doing the rounds. It’ll be available around August at Dover Street Market.

J.S Homestead Shawl Collar Cardigan

So this is another shawl collar cardigan. What can we say? it’s an illness. And we’ve hit two birds with one stone, combining our semi-obsession with shawl collars with our full on obsession with anything from Japan. And, to top it all off, the cardigans use flecked wool (aka menswear blogger obsession number 38282721). Like all pieces from Japan, you’ll need to get your proxy on. (Style Cruise)

Song remains the same, detailed images after that leap.

Paul Smith Shawl Collar Flecked Wool Jumper

selectism - paul-smith-flecked-wool-jumper-01

We’ve been overdosing on shawl collars lately, forgive us. We’ve also been overdosing on Paul Smith for a while – but we’re not asking for forgiveness about that. We don’t usually post up black jumpers as they’re a bit too ‘KGB Hitman’ for our tastes. Thankfully the flecking (not sure if that’s the term for it, but stay with us) makes sure you don’t look like one of those guys who think black is slimming. And if you are, don’t be fooled – we can still see your gut regardless of the colour of your sweater. (Paul Smith)

YMC Yellow Shawl Collar Zip Sweater

Yellow is still a taboo in menswear. We’re the first to admit that it doesn’t suit everyone, but a little bit of colour can add a whole lot to an outfit. If you’re into the chambray and denim look, then chances are that you’re looking a bit boring right now – don’t take offense. A sweater, like this YMC one, would be the perfect way to add a bit of life to your look. (My Wardrobe)
