Real Real Genuine Spring 2009 | Denim, Trousers and Shirts

rrg spring denim front Real Real Genuine Spring 2009 | Denim, Trousers and Shirts

Spring 2009 sees Real Real Genuine continuing to develop core strengths. This, of course, is in denim. A new cut has been introduced finding medium ground between RRG’s classic loose and straight leg. The mid-cut comes in raw and aged finish. Complementing the denim are two new trouser offerings, a selvedge twill (the Cornell) and the Kirtlington, a slim fit wool pant – work pants for the outdoors and the office. Back to the denim, new shirting selections include a selvedge denim western shirt, as well as a very sharp polo (Jasper). A few more of RRG’s excellent tees have also been added. Brilliant “Great British Denim” all round.

Check out all trousers and shirts after the jump.

Designer, Paul Smith, speaks with Guardian about making a vintage shirt into a modern look – and he even gives you a downloadable PDF pattern of the collar! “Paul Smith says: Making a shirt is complicated. It takes a specialised factory months to develop even our simplest shirt pattern, requiring specialised press irons and sewing machines. Of course you can make your own shirt and there are countless patterns but, to be honest, for so much work they never look particularly good.”

Denim Demon Spring/Summer 2009

denim demon ss2009 front Denim Demon Spring/Summer 2009

Sweden’s Denim Demon takes two avenues of inspiration to arrive at a single point for their Spring/Summer 2009 collection. A passion for authentic workwear and denim is fused with an interest in native “Sami” culture. Key product from the collection includes a denim Kolt, which essentially mixes classic workwear materials with a traditional “Sami” garment. On the denim side, Denim Demon has produced the Ren-on-hide, a 15.5 oz unsanforized denim complete with reindeer hide patch. The jeans are based on a 1930s Lee cut with green, white and blue narrow selvedge. The colors (green, white and blue) follow “Sami” culture and are a constant in the collection. The Kolt and Ren-on-hide denim is complemented by a denim shirt and jacket and a new flannel shirt. Oi Polloi will be among the fine retailers to stock the collection. (via highsnobiety).

Although we’re usually amongst the first to know about most things fashion-related, we really slipped on this one. Unbeknownst to us, Liberty have actually had an online service for a couple of months, in which they sell pieces by hard-to-find Japanese brand Edifice, hence the reason for this collection of Edifice shirts which you can buy online. If you’ve been dying to buy some Edifice, now’s your chance. Get them from Liberty.

MUJI Rescue Cotton Shirts

29 October 2008, 23.52 | Posted in Fashion, Uncategorized | No comments »

muji MUJI Rescue Cotton Shirts

Often overlooked for fellow Japanese retailer Uniqlo in the fashion department, MUJI delivers low cost design and functional everyday objects. In the USA, the quest for MUJI product can be a bit frustrating. (Very) Limited doors and similarly limited web presence make it tough. However, their wares still impress and excite.

A recent development is the Rescue Cotton Shirt. This is made from “ochiwata,” essentially the materially left over in the weaving processes. MUJI has used this waste cotton before, though for dish towels rather than clothing. For shirts it’s touted as super soft and very comfortable. The eco-friendly among you certainly won’t scoff at the positive application of typically disguarded materials either.

Selectism - CDG Forver Shirts

As though we needed another Comme des Garcons filing for the day, Nomad of Toronto has received stock of CDG’s Forever Shirt line. The name "Fovever" looks to signify the look of the button downs that are sublte and traditional. Nothing over ornate on these. In fact, they’re looks that will last (and have) for some time.
