We’ll tell you that Grenson is still very much an in-house favorite, as is Barbour. Sure, the world (including us) have pushed and hyped both brands well beyond either company’s idea of placement, but do the two work together well? Do Barbour textiles work against the Grenson brogue? We think so. The thick welted brogue works. Three other styles from this small collection including a derby boot and wingtip shoe are coming soon.

Friday is loafer day… to some. Burberry delivers their “fringed” take on the tassel loafer over on Mr. Porter. They’re a clean brown leather, with black welt on a cream sole. The tassels are oversized and look rigid enough to take some wear. Truthfully, use your shoes and care for them as needed. They’ll last for ages or at least until the next trend comes rolling into your town.

Alden’s Saddle Oxford has traditionally been a terrific muse for store specific make-ups. Blackbird, Leffot, and now Unionmade have each given the silhouette fantastic finishes, in keeping with both the shoe itself and the retailer’s individual aesthetic. Unionmade’s version navy alpine calf with a brown alpine leather at saddle and heel fox. Matching eyelets house waxed cotton laces.

Another Clarks special for Cambridge MA’s Concepts store. The Ashcott gets works in some laid back colorways. Solids seems to be of the order. The lo-top is a flat finish that has some breathability for the summer months. We would love to see someone take this model to new heights with a pattern.

Here’s an in-house boat shoe with chukka styling from Barneys New York. The Italian-made shoe comes in a dark brown finish and features a pronounced stitch detail on the sole (is it jute?).  Takes some strong queues from Japanese takes on this silhouette from a few years back.

Quoc Pham shows us one of his recent takes on the classic touring shoe. The shoe offers a a hand lasted rubber sole with all natural leather upppers. The shoe is completely wind resistant and should be purchased snug since the leather will expand as your break them in. The shoe comes in three colorways: black, tan and brown and Mission Workshop has them.

Yes, you read that headline correctly. It’s car, made like a shoe, that you can drive around town. Our heads are exploding at the thought of this. Made by the Kang shoe company, it took six months to make and can carry two people. With a maximum speed of 20mph, it’s designed for Wiz Khalifa levels of stunting on haters and is a rather genius promotional tool (we’re talking about it aren’t we?). We hold our breath in anticipation for a Tricker’s for Junya Watanabe version. (Orange)

Tretorn, a company that has been designing shoes for decades, shows us one of their classics. The “Nylite Canvas” tennis shoe was created in 1967 and was “regarded as the first luxury shorts shoe.” The shoe offers a natural canvas upper, classic gulllwing logo, textile lining/sockliner and a EcoOrthoLite insole. This shoe could add a sophisticated look to jeans, chinos and shorts. I’ve had one every summer for the last 5 years. A great shoe with many sock options. It’s offered at Tretorn.
