Studio D’Artisan 5 Pocket Camo Shorts

studio dartisan camo shorts 1 Studio DArtisan 5 Pocket Camo Shorts

Further camo action on the hill. Studio D’Artisan delivers a pair of five pocket camo shorts. Not much to say that cannot be gathered from the images, expect that they are made in Japan. Ripstop fabric makes them durable and light. Well up there at $215 a pair. Blue & Green has them. Do we see some flying pigs hidden in the pattern?

Zara Seamed Bermuda Shorts

zara seamed bermuda shorts 1 Zara Seamed Bermuda Shorts
We have never thrown you a direct item from Zara before. Our shoulder was not a cold one, we just never saw anything that caused a double-take. These shorts changed all that. They have the look of harem pants without any of the embarrassment that would likely come from waddling around in harem pants. They seem to look better from the back, but the strange flatness in the front might grow more appealing as the overall looseness lets your nether regions breathe easy on a hot, hot summer day.

We are not 100-percent sure we can pull these off, but at just under $50, the experiment would be practically painless. Plus, if they do not make the cut on the streets, they look comfy enough to sleep in at least. Available online.

Left Field: Angus Young Goes to Princeton – Shorts

15 May 2012, 19.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

left field agus young shorts 1 Left Field: Angus Young Goes to Princeton Shorts
To complete the look inspiring these shorts from Left Field would require a matching blazer, a striped tie and some collapsed white socks. Then again, aping a style icon like AC/DC’s Angus Young to a tee would be a bit of an embarrassment unless you have a perfect duck-walk and can rip out raunchy chords on a six-string. Why not avoid all of the confusion and just go with these tribute shorts from the “Angus Young Goes to Princeton Collection,” available in a good slew of colors and made in the U.S.A. with organic cotton.

The length differs from a lot of men’s shorts offerings this season—going down a bit closer to the knee—but the tighter fit makes for a cohesive look for your lower half. A wise move by LF to go with the schoolboy shorts instead of some of the guitarist’s earlier stage costumes: Spider-Man, Zorro, a gorilla, and Super-Ang. Pick up a pair here.

Outlier Three Way Longs

Sounds a bit like an orgy with Michael Fassbender and Thomas Jane in the picture, but the Three Way Longs are actually an update to Outlier’s Three Way swim trunks-shorts hybrid.

“We were pretty comfortable with the 8.5 inch inseam on our original Three Way Shorts, but some of you just weren’t satisfied,” Outlier informs. “Every day we get emails talking about needing a couple of extra inches, so we took that pill and got a full 10.5 inch inseam, hitting right around the knee.” There you have it. Great shorts for swimming, hiking, or city walking with no awkward silences involved. Available now online.

North Swim Trunks and Swimsuits – Another Look

north swimwear trunks suits 02 North Swim Trunks and Swimsuits Another Look

We took a look at Denmark’s North swimwear when it first launched back a few years ago. We revisit the looks of their modern cut swim trunks and two piece swim suits for the women just in time for summer. What we enjoy on the looks are, again, the cut of the trunks. Board shorts they are not. A very relaxed and solid look that works for most. Do not by shy of the leg line.

See more from North, both men’s and women’s looks, on the following page.

Ovadia & Sons Paint-Splattered Seersucker Shorts

27 April 2012, 21.00 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

ovadia and sons paint serrsucker shorts 1 Ovadia & Sons Paint Splattered Seersucker Shorts
We showed you some bleached jeans earlier this week that verged on I-could-just-do-that-myself territory. These paint-splattered seersucker shorts from Ovadia & Sons veer right into that landscape thanks to some flecks, splatters and smears of red and blue.

Billing as “hand-painted” suggests each pair is one-of-a-kind, and the cut-off bottoms look like rough scissor jobs. As we see it, there are two options: 1) Find some seersucker pants at a thrift store, drink three beers, cut them off, do some touch-up work around the house and let the chips drips fall where they may or 2) head over to Boylston Trading Co. and pick these up.

Gitman Brothers Vintage – Shorts in Zebra

gitman brothers zebra shorts 1 Gitman Brothers Vintage Shorts in Zebra
Do you like zebras? Are you willing to prove it? Then the Gitman Brothers have some shorts for you. No strangers to daring prints, brothers Gitman show no slack with these wild wonders. What we like is that a print that could easily tumble off the safari jeep and into a ditch stays proper on the path with a bit of optical trickery at its command (if you were running really fast in these it could hypnotize onlookers). We might be tempted to take the hem a little higher, however. Mohawk General Store has them.
