Selectism - Audio-Technica Bijoué Portable Speakers

When it comes to electronics there is no doubt the Japanese (and Asia for that matter) tend to get the good shit first. Check these portable speakers from Audio-Technica. “Audio-Technica today in Japan announced [JP] diamond-shaped portable speakers, dubbed Bijoué/AT-SPF30, which are especially geared towards female users. Technically, the speakers aren’t special: you’ll get 600mW/φ28mm full range speakers running on two AAA batteries for 33 hours continuously. Weighing just 105g, the Bijoué speakers is sized at 78×74×37mm. Audio-Technica doesn’t try to attract geeky female buyers just with the design and size but with a functional hook as well: when opening up the diamond speaker, users will find a small mirror behind the lid.” (crunchgear)

More looks at the Audio-Technica Bijoué Portable Speakers after the click.

Selectism - Muon Loudspeaker for KEF by Ross Lovegrove

Ross Lovegrove is an industrial design mastermind. You have seen his work but may not know his name. His commercial work is usually found in modern hotels, offices, and lounges worldwide. Check out that basin in the bathroom or those utility chairs. They may well be his.

Lovegrove set a new mark with a super-formed aluminum louspeaker for KEF in 2007 called the Muon. “The concept uses malleable (my favorite word) sheets of heated aluminum to achieve otherwise impossible shapes.” They are also some of the best sounding speakers on Earth as well as amazing pieces of sculpture.

The Muon retail at a Selectism special price of 170,000$US and are limited to 100 pairs.
