Pink, Juventus’ original home color before the switch to black and white stripe, returns for the Turin club’s away matches in 2011/2012. Juventus has hit or miss success with their pink strips – the BBC calling a mid-90s version one of “the worst football kits of all time.” The contemporary style features a bold black star, and is delightfully aggressive in overall aesthetic. Made, like all new Nike football shirts, of 100% recycled polyester.

No, Mark McNairy hasn’t gone overboard with an audacious assault on traditional English footwear.*

Instead, Everton FC has chosen to dress the club’s American goalkeeper – Tim Howard – in this number for the 2011/2012 home stand. He certainly won’t blend into the teams bright blue strip, nor is he likely to match anyone in the opposing side. Everton has posted the original brief for the new home kit here. Note that there is no mention of or directive given for the goalies garb. Let this be a lesson to all sporting franchises – a #fail only equaled by Minnesotans agreeing that “Wild” is a decent name for a hockey team.

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, both based in East London, are responsible for the design of the 2012 Olympic Torch. Taken into account the 8,000 individual torchbearers and their respective communities, the design features 8,000 circles representing all the stories that make up the charge to the Olympic Games. While the base idea is quite simple, it is achieved with great grace.

With a heady mix of prep school classics, K-Swiss‘ California Running collection continues the brand’s vintage inspired offerings designed Brendon Babenzien. Our favorite pieces include the Boathouse inspired crew jacket and the tab t-shirts… prep school classics that haven’t yet been beaten to death. There are some terrific tanks in the mix too.

A blinder of a book, complete with foreward by Sir Bobby Charlton, The Rules of Association Football, 1863 stands, arguably, as one of the world’s most important publications. It’s been available in this current print for some time (as in 2006, for the world cup and as one of “The 12 Books that Changed the World”), however it is never too late to remind of the simple honesty and character the beautiful game possesses. With 14 clear rules, the FA established the backbone of the English game… and with these rules gave firm rise to the game’s future.

Complementing a tremendous range of baseball apparel, Ebbets Field Flannels now offers a range of real hockey sweaters.
