Actors appearing in ad campaigns isn’t anything new, but it’s a little more surprising when the actor is a little known star who’s only appeared in one highly acclaimed film. Nylon puts us on to the news that actor Ciro Petrone, who starred in Gommorah, a film about the Naples mafia, is set to be the face of APC’s SS09 collection. Gommorah is sure to be up for an Oscar, so watch it now so you can get on the ‘I saw it ages ago’ bandwagon.

LES boutique, Bblessing, has released images of their Spring ‘09 collection. When the menswear line from the shop was first introduced to the market they had basically just picked up where Surface to Air NY left off. With the current collection that is in stores now they began to move out of the graphic tee and hoody market and bring a more well-rounded point of view. Next Spring’s collection further evolves along that path.  It’s made up of slim, well-tailored blazers, woodsy plaid button ups, slim-cut pants, selvedge denim, pleated shorts and lightweight polos. A refreshing contrast from the label’s start and the darker collections their store currently carries. Via R29.

Selectism favourites April 77 have just given us a sneak peek at their upcoming Spring/Summer 09 lookbook. Photographed by Maciek Pozoga, the collection is entitled ‘The Apollo program was a hoax’. The collection is named after a song title from Swedish punk band Refused – who in turn were influenced by writer Bill Kaysing, the instigator of the moon landing conspiracy rumours. We featured Rickard Lindqvist a while back, so it’s only natural that we take a look at his SS09 collection. This collection continues to mix classic tailoring with contemporary choices of colour and materials. Denim is the material that Lindqvist has decided to experiment with this time around, using it for everything from jumpsuits to trench-like coats. We featured Tillman Lauterbach’s A/W 08 collection a while ago and his spring 09 collection recently fell into our laps. The omnipresent feature of this collection is the colour purple. Not just any old purple, but a purple in a specific shade that gives it a much more masculine, mature look than other shades of purple available right now. Filippa K’s Spring/Summer 09 collection shows off its Scandinavian heritage with a surprisingly large amount of knitwear. Clearly designed to brace oneself for a cold summer, it would also make the collection quite useful for those who only have a month or so of actual sweltering heat. Heavy knits aside, There’s a movement towards pale shades as lavenders, blues and beiges dominate the collection. Piping also makes a big impact, with the detailing featuring on blazers and shirts. Established in 1934, Andersen & Lauth are a label based in Reykjavik, Iceland. The label is based around the heritage of the first tailor shop opened in Iceland’s capital and seeks to mix traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs. Told through a story about the co-owner’s father, the aim of the collection is to create timeless pieces that bypass fashion trends. Take a look at the rest of the collection after the jump.

Julia Hederus has been a rising star on the menswear scene for a while now, starting with her collaboration with K-Swiss. The Swedish born designer was originally in art school, before taking up fashion design, a journey which eventually landed her in Central St. Martins. Hederus’ first collection was in A/W 07, entitled ‘Boxes’ and the latest SS09 collection is called ‘Kites’.
