Alex Carleton, designer of the men’s brands, Rogues Gallery and Urban Outfitters opens the doors on a new line for the guys. Never Sleep is a line that mixes the Ivy League with some “social distortion” of thoughts. ”The individualistic spirit of the collection is captured in the phrase ”Carpe Noctum” or Seize the Night, at once rooted in, and subverting, the prep school culture from it comes from.” The fashions in Never Sleep come in one shade - Black. That should make the minimalist readers happy.

Today is “bowtie war” day at Selectism. Mr. Dike posted the Hackett bowtie this morning. I challenge him to a duel with this selection of bowties from Saint Augustine Academy of Australia. We featured their menswear collection yesterday but felt it necessary to show Mr. Dike that the other side of the hemisphere is emerging quickly as a fashion powerhouse.  Who will reign supreme?

Lee Japan gets all farmhand on us with their Spring/Summer 2009 collection looks. With their archive collection beginning to trickle over from Japan into Europe and the States, we’re hoping to see more shine on their heritage collection. The United States has more than one great denim company. They just simply have to show us the same kind of love that the Japanese market gets. Come on, Lee. Push it.

Heritage is a hot term right now - so it only makes sense for us to feature a true heritage brand who haven’t hopped on the history boasting bandwagon. Church’s collection does have several trend-led items such as suede desert boots and penny loafers, but they’re finished to a much higher degree than any designer shoe we can think of - and at about half the price, with the boots above costing £165. The collection, which is in Church’s stores now, features suede shoes, tasselled loafers and slimline brogues.
