Aloha Rag Collection for Spring 2010

Selectism - Aloha Rag Collection for Spring 2010

A few new things from Aloha Rag in the form of a small in-house collection. “Spring 2010 Tatsugo Yoda introduces the Aloha Rag brand. The collection consists of 10 men’s and 10 women’s items that are a nostalgic take on Americana basics ranging from a $75 organic t-shirt to an $800 sumptuous leather motorcycle jacket.  There are reinterpretations of classics, such as a military inspired vest designed with a cap sleeve and heavy studding or a light weight boxy jacket done in a distressed flannel for an unexpected finish.  Each piece echoes Americana favorites incorporating a modern edge and finished with the meticulous attention to detail his customers demand.”

Selectism - UNIS Spring/Summer 2010 Looks

Cqc reminds us to review the UNIS Spring/Summer 2010 collection. “Inspired by and designed for the contemporary downtown man, UNIS evokes classic American sportswear. Urbane while easy, elegant without affect, Lee’s understated designs don’t ask for attention, rather they suit the man. Produced and manufactured entirely in its home of New York City, UNIS is just the result of a real relationship between designer, craftsmen, and locale..”

Selectism - Olasul Spring/Summer 2010 Swimwear

A new swimwear upstart hits the deck from NYC. Here’s the Olasul story in their own words: “Imagine a place where, for 1400 miles, an exquisite moonscape drops dramatically into the ocean. Where a lone highway is dotted with ceviche stands and its winding path takes drivers through the longest stretch of unspoiled, virgin coastline on the planet. This is the Peruvian coast. And this is the inspiration for Olasul – forever seeking to unite the bond between man and the ocean… Made from the highest quality, quick-drying materials and engineered and re-engineered to develop the perfect, updated, modern fit, Olasul products celebrate the unique Peruvian surf culture. Each piece tells a story and harkens back to a time and place where surfing was a gentleman’s sport and the world moved at a slightly slower pace.”

Selectism - Anachronorm Spring 2010

The more Japanese lines that make it to US shores, the better off we are. Well, at least me. From the looks of Jake’s last post, UNION, one of the more forward engaging boutiques from the early wave still kicking ass, is about to land the “the new vintage for the next era.” As Jake puts it, “”When Chris (Union) told me about this line Anachronorm he was bringing into the States from Japan I could see in his eyes how excited he was. Like he just found some break record that nobody knew about. And passion like that spreads like wildfire. Here’s a small introduction. There are some really incredible pieces… in the vain of some of our favorites like 45rpm and Kapital.” ”
