Milano’s Umit Benan drops a proper Spring 2010 collection that allows for the casual man to interact with clothing that fit well, and looks great without the overbearing presence of Northern European influence. “Umit Benan has envisioned a life in Cuba observed through the lens of Slim Aarons – a photographer renowned for his iconic pictures of glamorous and wealthy jet-setters in their international playgrounds. Umit Benan sees his character for this season as a stylish young Cuban businessman living in pre-revolution Cuba, in what he imagines to have been a freer and happier time.”

Selectism favorite, Nigel Cabourn present his BURMA collection for Spring/Summer 2010. “The Spring/Summer 2010 Collection BURMA is inspired by the contents of Nigel’s Father’s army handbook. He used this as a diary during his time in India and Burma between1942 and 1945. The photographs his Father J.E.W. Cabourn took on his box brownie camera and the clothing that he wore form the basis of the collection and is a tribute to him and his companions”

Colette (hello!) drops two of the more heavy side shoes from the Raf Simon’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Available in classic black leather and/or leather in “snake motif,” the Raf shoes are complements to the apparel collection which features the “snake motif” touch as well. They look bulkier than most of the trends but follow stride with lace and buckled versions. No. They’re not Fluevogs.

The “Indigo Farm” collection from Topman Ltd. hit the online circuit but gets a proper instore engagement in March.  Topman Ltd. for Spring featurs “attention to detail and uses washes and finishes to give a sophisticated utility look. Indgio’s colour palette is predominantly made up of subtle blues and greys, highlighted with ochre and purples creating a distinctively Scandinavian influence.” Gordon Richardson, Topman’s design director mentions, “It’s exciting for us to be able to expand Topman Ltd so quickly and confidently based on the positive reaction to our initial trends. The SHIRT sub line from Japan’s SOE offers a wide collection of dress/casual button up shirts for the everyman. Patterns plain and complex make up the collection which revolves around the black, white, and blue aesthetic that is popular with most dress makers these days. Those colors will never fade it would seem. They are classic of course.

Ah yes, The Generic Man returns with a collection slightly larger than past collection. The West Coast based brand stands proud with it’s old silhouettes by mixing up the finish and color while retaining some carryover SKU’s including the Savant, Tuxman,  Academy, and the Tuxman, of course. “All generic man footwear is crafted using the finest Italian materials, handmade in Portugal.” Dig through these photo and look for more colors and styles once they land in stores.

Eyewear maker, Illesteva, headed to Havana to shoot their debut Summer 2010 lookbook. “The look book was shot by David Cabrera on famed Calle Ocho Boulevard in Miami’s historic “Little Havana” district, guest starring some of the world’s best domino players. Illesteva’s debut collection features eyewear handmade in Italy using only the best materials ranging from titanium to steel, acetate and bamboo. The line will also premier a pair of buffalo horn sunglasses with photochromic lenses that will retail at $2000. Illesteva’s debut collection will launch worldwide in April.”
