The forthcoming Burkman Brothers Spring Summer 2012 collection feels all Hawaii. The brothers behind the line spent some time in the 50th state and it has clearly influenced their collection. The “Polynesia -meets-America vibe” comes through in various garments including, hiking shorts with tropical color combos and original patterns. Airedale create well-made, unfussy, clothes for guys who don’t want to look like they tried too hard. The NY based brand is the handy-work of Todd Katz and Eric Sorensen, both of whom previously worked in the industry, specifically for technical brands and have brought that functional element into their current project. The usual suspects are present for Spring/Summer 2012: chinos, check shirts, light knits and parkas, all made with the an eye for quality and durability.

Denmark’s Soulland showcased their Spring/Summer 2012 collection during Copenhagen Fashion Week (this week). The prints in the collection stand out. Matching tops, pants and shorts offer fresh views on florals that are not patterned but full on works of art on the garments. For those looking to follow a more subtle route, the collection clearly offers an abundance of options.

Laos born designer, Hien Le is one of the newcomers in the Berlin fashion scene. The designer presented his Spring/Summer 2012 collection during the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. A graduate of the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Le has worked across the agency and sales level. Two years ago, Le went on his own and delivered his first collection. Today he continues this move forward. “Besides concentrating on discreet cuts and the subtle application of details, he consequently maintains his claim to manufacture clothing that combines diligent design with accurate workmanship, everything produced in Germany.”

Australia’s Rittenhouse delivers looks from their current Spring/Summer 2012 collection. “Soft, earthy tones of mottled green, dusty browns and neutrals run through the collection in natural and light linens and cottons, available in tees, sweaters and shirting. Making a special guest appearance is the much loved Rittenhouse parka; updated with subtle contrasting panels, buttoned up cape style hood and double keyhole buttonholes on the chest (perfect for a freshly picked flower!).”

Something new from Porter for Spring/Summer 2011. They turn (as everyone has) to U.S. manufacturing for their collection. The Amoskeag Manufacturing Company works over many of the looks. “ SS2011 collection takes American denim wear as inspiration — made in Amoskeag Manufacturing Company vintage denim fabric, the designs are inspired by retro work wear. Patch work is featured throughout the collection — loose cut trousers, vest, jacket, overall, bag and other items.
