Selectism - Alexandre Herchcovitch S/S 2008

Alexandre Herchcovitch has taken his Spring/Summer runway show back to a darker place. Unlike his past few S/S collections, which remained warm in tone, his 2008 runway is a return to dark colors that blend a variety of fabrics and chemicals to produce an almost black metal view of spring and summer. Clearly, the Brasilian designer is unafraid to buck the trending forecasters in producing a collection is is clearly unique to his vision.

selectism - lova spring 2008

Our friends at Notcot turned us onto LOVA Clothing recently and followed-up nicely with some imagery of the line from the Revolve Popupstore, which will re-open in August in LA. As stated on Notcot, “Giuseppe Valentini, co-founder and designer of the line, says ‘Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication’ and I couldn’t agree more, so it’s no wonder that I love their look because it’s the simplicity that gives it that timeless quality”.

Selectism - Zara Menswear S/S 2008

Spain’s monster of a fashion retailer, Zara, has just previewed their Spring/Summer 2008 Collection online. In a 2001 CNN interview, a LVMH’s fashion director called Zara “possibly the most innovative and devastating retailer in the world.”

With their increased growth throughout markets (including uprooting Armani from their longtime Newbury Street location), Zara still has lots of room in the US fashion market.
