Robert Geller Hooded Field Jacket

29 June 2010, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Selectism - robert-geller-hooded-jacket-01

Yep, it’s another lightweight jacket. It’s still raining where we reside, so we’ll probably be looking at jackets until autumn arrives. Having seen this piece up close we can confirm that it’s ridiculously light, suitable for summer days – even those annoyingly wet, hot and muggy ones. And it’s sale season, so you can get this for 50% off (be warned: that still doesn’t make it cheap). [Alwaysnever]

Our Legacy Bomber Jacket

Selectism - our-legacy-bomber-jacket-01

We’ve tried our best to stay away from navy outerwear this season, but here’s a piece we had to put up. Bomber jackets are always great spring wear, perfect for going over a shirt when the weather calls for light outerwear. As you’d expect from the brand currently out-APC’ing APC, it’s an understated piece that could slot into anyone’s wardrobe. And it’s on sale. (Coggles)

Whyred Spring/Summer 2010 ‘Beckett’ Boots

selectism - whyred-spring-2010-beckett-boots

Consider this a ‘look but don’t actually buy’ post. These Whyred boots are best suited to the early half of the spring/summer season – which, bizarrely, is still January – but they’re still handsome enough for us to feature. With all our money going on chambray jeans, sunglasses and coloured chinos we wouldn’t actually buy these now but if you’re desperate for black high top desert boots (and who isn’t?) you can get these at Whyred’s recently launched online store. Duffer of St. George Spring/Summer 2010

selectism - Duffer of St. George Spring/Summer 2010

The allure of the high street is back with Duffer of St. George’s spring/summer 2010 collection. We’ve discussed the fleece before and the unpretentious nature of the product continues to appeal. It’s about core classics – baseball jackets, polos, nylon pullovers, etc. – everyman wear for the pub.

Detractors will note that the collection is available at  J.D. Sports, but at the moment there’s something comforting about accessibility.

The look book has been shot by Neil Bedford, whose work regularly strikes a cord.

selectism - Kangol Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

“Born British, raised on the streets of New York”

Kangol’s Spring/Summer 2010 campaign Future Reflections takes cues from George Lucas’ THX 1138 and Stanley Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange. “Tradition, quality, and craftsmanship are fundamental to Kangol headwear SS2010.  Tropic anchors the collection and welcomes the new Duke Trilby and a fine assortment of blocked jacquard patterns.  Bamboo is a staple in natural knits with the new Mowbray pork pie shape.  Moss Stitch and Side Stripe elevate natural fibers to stylish heights.  Spiral Knit uses a luxurious blend of spring-weight merino and tencel yarn. Liberty Art Fabrics are offered in an Italian-made capsule collection.  Italy also provides the Kangol Heritage and Neo Checks.  We return to Japan for Toki Sen-i Japanese Jersey and Kowa denim and twill.  These Kangol classics are made with pride, and are designed to function with a continued focus on style.”

Uniforms for the Dedicated Spring/Summer 2010 Campaign

Selectism - uniforms-dedicated-campaign

It’s been a good few days for flash-based campaigns. After Mr. Ervell’s beguiling internet store (which we still can’t stop staring at) it’s now the turn of Uniforms for the Dedicated. The swedish label have posted up their campaign for the SS10 ‘1020 Trickery lane’ collection and it’s packed to the gills with fancy effects and, erm, trickery.. In fact, we can’t even do it justice yapping about it, so click the link at the end of this post and look for yourselves. (Uniforms for the Dedicated)

Prada Spring/Summer 2010 Look Book

selectism - Prada Spring/Summer 2010 Look Book

Prada’s spring/summer 2010 look book hammers down a few things we’ve been noticing. For one, people are pretty darn excited about shorts. Prada’s version happen to come a little shorter than some others, and the fabric choices appear less traditional in terms of seasonal affiliation. Secondly, we’re finding that mock turtle necks are making a comeback.

selectism - Billy Reid Spring/Summer 2010 Looks

Having previewed the spring/summer 2010 range from decorated designer Billy Reid almost six months back, we figured it was proper time to give the current looks a little shine. As to be expected, their are some fine checked shirts and relaxed suiting options. Mr. Reid also continues his love affair with Southern foodways via a few playful graphic t-shirts.

Above is the Jonathan jacket, a new piece that blends cotton and linen in a trim blazer. For more of Spring/Summer 2010 from Billy Reid flip the page.

First Look | Narrative Spring/Summer 2010

26 February 2010, 18.30 | Posted in Sneakers | 1 comment »

Selectism - narrative-spring-2010-03

We dropped a few previews of Narrative’s SS10 collection a while back, but here’s a look at the whole collection. Hybrid is the word of the season at Narrative towers, with more (successful) meshing of shoe styles than we’ve seen in any of their previous collections. There’s brogued up high tops and trainers – it’s not a new concept, but the execution is much better than we’re used to seeing. With shark soled chukkas, boat laces on desert boots and vibram soled oxfords, there’s plenty of CWT’s (Classics With a Twist) in the collection for the folks who like their shoes just that little bit different.

Take a leap to see the rest of the collection.

SNS Herning Spring/Summer 2010

Selectism - SNS-Herning-Spring-2010-01

We know what you’re thinking – ‘this has dropped in stores already!’. Well here’s a couple of styles that weren’t picked up by every store in town. The element sweater that we posted up earlier is available in hoodie and 1/2 arm length sweater form; the 1/2 arm length sweater isn’t for everyone, but we’re fans – anything that saves our cuffs from summer-push-up-abuse is fine by us. Elsewhere in the collection is an array of the sweaters, undergarments and hooded knits we’ve come to expect from the good folks at SNS.

Song remains the same, take that leap to see those pictures.
