Sruli Recht "When Gravity Fails" Autumn/Winter 2011

Iceland’s Sruli Recht has been designing across many mediums for some time now (we love his perch wallet and bullet-proof pocket square). For his Autumn 2011 menswear line, Recht focuses on  a study of diagonal lines in the “When Gravity Fails” collection. You’ll discover progressive men’s looks that take a sharp approach to fashion – leather jackets are sharp edged, and almost layers. Gloves do the same. The collection reconstructs many common garments into wears that can be considered sculpture.

Sruli Recht “Perch Skin” Whalet

Sruli Recht "Perch Skin" Whalet

Sruli Recht’s wallet hit the mark on everyrhing unique and individual. You will not find another wallet like this (at least in this color – exclusive to Ghostly). “A brilliant abstraction of a whale in profile, Sruli Recht’s ‘Whalet’ is crafted from a single piece of laser-cut Nile perch skin, which has been folded into shape and hand tethered with a black oxidized rivet. In keeping with Recht’s holistic design process, the packaging cleverly references this concept as well, the wallet lying inside a pop-up box, he notes, as ‘in the mouth of a Leviathan rising from the waves.’ Ghostly has them.
