Paul Smith turns his attention to commemorative stamps with this edition for the Isle of Man celebrating London Olympics 2012. Always one to stay involved in all areas of design, Sir Paul was driven by his love of all things bike related.  ”A lifelong follower of world cycling, Paul Smith was honoured to be asked to participate in this project by the Isle of Man Post Office. The Isle of Man has strong cycling connections as it is the home of heroic Olympic cyclist, and good friend of Paul Smith, Mark Cavendish.”  The Isle of Man Post Office shop carries a selection of collectable packs with an accompanying book also available from Paul Smith online.

A set of 10 stamps celebrating classic British 20th century design has been released by the Royal Mail. Like celebrations are nothing new, the United States Postal Service issued Eames themed stamps last year. What’s exciting is the range of objects – from fashion to aviation – represented. In celebration of the birthday of Charles Eames (he would have been 101 today) the US Postal Service has released a commemorative 42 cent stamp. The stamp features key designs from Charles and his wife Ray. In total, there are 16 stamps in the collection.  Get them at your local post office. (via Design Notes). 

By no means are we stamp collectors and actually hardly ever use them, but just like with the recent James Bond edition by the Royalmail, we have to show you this Eames edition by USPS. This upcoming summer 2008, USPS will be releasing 16 stamps honoring Charles and Ray Eames. We’ll be buying stamps again soon!

The ultimate style icon has now also found his way onto stamps. A new set of extra-long British stamps featuring covers from the James Bond novels has been issued by the Royal Mail today. Issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the James Bond creator, Ian Fleming, each stamp begins with the cover from first edition hardbacks before progressing through paperback versions from the 1960’s, 70’s/80’s and current Penguin editions. Definitely a must-have for collectors and James Bond fans. Via CR.
