Steven Alan starts off New York Fashion Week 2012 with his Autumn/Winter 2012 presentation of garments for the boys and girls. Lounging New York casual is the feeling we (always) get from Mr. Alan. Always a strong mix looks that work just about everywhere (we like to say for the everyman), the collection also features a wide selection of complimentary footwear that runs from kicks to proper shoes. Spend some time exploring one of the more friendly designers out there.
An interesting number from Steven Alan. Quilting seems like a good way forward this winter. For retaining warmth and just giving you that puffed up n’ protected feeling there’s nothing better. This one is designed to keep your neck happy but its uses are many: pillow, bottle protector, a quilt for your pet snake. It’s hard to argue with a scarf this versatile. Cotton/nylon mix, a subtle check on one other side, block colour on the reverse, find it a Garbstore.
NYC Fashion Week is about to explode. Straight through the gates comes the Steven Alan ready-to-wear collection for Spring 2012. Pulling influence from sixties, the new Alan collection bring us styles that deliver the fashions of that time. Mr. alan has mentioned that the watercolors of Alex Katz influenced many of the looks. Let us know your thoughts on the collection.
Our favorite model lays out the new looks for Steven Alan’s Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. The usual Steven Alan “style” remains. Knit cards, work shirts, and dapper takes on the blazer work well. The wool coat with zip closure and waist pulls looks to be a standout. You can always count on Mr. Alan bring a very wearable collection to the men’s scene.
We all know about Steven Alan shirts at this point don’t we? They’re well made, locally produced and internationally recognised and all that good stuff. Us? We just like the pattern on this. It’s not too overboard and won’t look absolutely insane in a few seasons time, something that can’t be said for that Prada bananas shirt. (Steven Alan)
The “best” invention in clothing is the reversible garment and Steven Alan gives us his take in the form of a pair of shorts. “The reversible shorts are for those lazy spring and summer days;” the perfect setting for a 100% cotton, machine washable short that is made in the US. The garment offers a fully reversible option and a slightly higher hemline. They come in either a grey and blue combination or a navy and light brown finish.
Here’s the latest Nike Blazer. Once again, the make up is simple – here it is black canvas on white rubber – with subtle detailing. The addition of a side zipper is the make or break element, you’ll either love or hate it, but arguing the appeal of the base elements is near impossible.
Here’s a fresh look at the forthcoming sneakers from Keds for Steven Alan. Canvas remains the choice on these lo’s and chukka inspired mids. Leather and work boot laces are choice on these as well. Look for them to drop sometime around June through Steven Alan shops.

It doesn’t take a genius to notice that there’s a helluva lot of patterned shirts out in menswear this season. And it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why. Heck, if you bought some plain, hard wearing oxfords last year, chances are it’s probably still holding up pretty well – so why buy the same thing twice? As we’ve been preaching for a while, variety is the spice of wardrobes. (Garbstore)
