b store jumped from Conduit Street to tailoring’s spiritual home on Saville Row a few backs. Now, it’s left behind its glass fronted manor to a new abode on Kingly Street, running parallel to Carnaby Street. We don’t know if we can officially call this Soho but for the purposes of simplicity we will.

Every store they’ve inhabited has felt very much their own in terms of interior.This time white walls and wooden floors are joined by strip lights,  splashes of colour and wooden fixtures. We like the addition of plants; there aren’t enough plants in shops these days. We paid a visit to bstore Version.3. Go see what’s new.

Follow us as we step through the doors of MHL’s first London store, located on Old Nichol Street and yet another addition to the Redchurch street massive. Margaret Howell has always kept the utilitarian label on a relatively low exposure level. As with the mainline, fiercely protecting the brand has created a continuous buzz and sense of exclusivity, both of which have kept her legion of loyal followers faithful to this British fashion institution. The space is very much in line with MHL and Margaret Howell stores worldwide. As you’d expect light, wood, simple fixtures and a sense of space are the preferred look.

Placing the clothing at the centre of attention, there’s very little to distract from what MHL does best – creating the kind of gear you’d happily fill your wardrobe with and wear for the rest of your days. The Spring/Summer 2012 collection had just dropped when we paid a visit, even more reason to take the tour.

We ventured down to another edition to the ever growing area springing up around East London’s Redchurch Street. Following on from the trailer for The Ragtop Boys we take a closer look at Ragtop Vintage of 1a Turville Street. A relative newcomer in shop form, Dave  White has been running his incredibly popular stall at Spitalfields Thursday Antiques Market for years now, serving up hand picked goods to loyal collectors, designers and vintage heads. If he’s not manning his outdoor or indoor locations he’s probably in L.A searching out gems for the folks back home. In fact he’s all geared up for a visit to this month’s Inspiration Vintage gathering, headed up by the legendary Rin Tanaka. We’re not jealous at all.

Another welcome addition to the Soho menswear roster, we finally found our way down to the new Oliver Spencer store located on Berwick Street. Regulars to the area will recognise this as the former site of Textile King fabrics however the interior has received a complete overhaul and the space has a very different feel to its predecessor. Following on from Lambs Conduit Street Stores, this is a wood heavy affair – old school desks, firewood, cabinets, heavy benches – parquet even finds itself lining the walls. A great space put together with attention to detail and a good eye.

We’ve decided to take a slight detour this week. Instead of the usual menswear goodness, we shot Nine Nails Tattoo parlour, the new shop just off Old Street. Tattoo fanatics should appreciate the the layout, images and, obviously, tattoos whilst the rest of you will appreciate the surprise.

[UFC announcer voice] It’s tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime![/UFC announcer voice]. This time we look at Hostem. It’s launched relatively recently but it’s now officially an established store on Redchurch street. Redchurch Street is what an estate agent would call ‘a great prospect of an area’ and Hostem is one of those stores that’s spearheaded the evolution. We remember when it was a mere puppy of a store, take a leap to see how the store’s looking these days.

We recently revisited the new home of 3939, which has moved from the time we showcased it in our Selectism Sessions series. Now based on Kingsland road (pop in if you’re in the area) they’ve shifted things around a bit and added a holographic ring installation that had this writer cooing like a buffoon. Next up in our store visit series are those new classicists Drakes. They’ve recently set up shop near Saville Row and we rocked up to see what it was all about. There’s no need for us to rant and rave here, take a leap to see what we saw.

We can’t stop, won’t stop with the store visits. Well, not until tomorrow, when we’ll give you all a rest from lovely store interiors. For now you’ll have to make do with London based Trunk Clothiers, a toddler of a store (compared to Anthem’s new born baby) which stocks the likes of Sunspel, Our Legacy, Beams Plus and Italian steezologists Boglioli.
