Shop Visit | The Vintage Showroom

14 December 2011, 19.30 | Posted in stores | No comments »

Selectism - Vintage-showroom-shop-visit-01

One of our favourite spots in London, we finally managed to shoot The Vintage Showroom. As the name suggests, it showcases the best and brightest of vintage menswear, focusing on quality goods. It’s miles away from the kitsch tat that most shops are pushing as vintage nowadays and all the better for it.

Silent Ventures Pop-Up Store

11 November 2011, 21.30 | Posted in stores | No comments »

Selectism - silent-ventures-01

We know what you’re thinking ‘another pop-up store? Is this How to Make it in America?’. Without sounding too Al Green, we’re tired of being tired – especially when it comes to things like pop up shops. And, more importantly, Silent Ventures is an interesting brand. Based on American sportswear (but not as tied to it as other brands out there) it’s good enough quirk to keep us interested whilst keeping things wearable. Open from today to the 17th at 54 Rivington Street, London EC2A.

What are you waiting for? jump down and get some pictures for your tumblr.

Aesop Ginza Store

09 November 2011, 21.30 | Posted in stores | No comments »

Selectism - aesop-store-01

Aesop have opened another store in Japan, this time in Ginza. The interior uses red bricks to reflect the look of the street the store’s on. Formerly a shoe store, this sense of heritage apparently works well with Aesop’s DNA. We have to admit, we have absolutely no idea what brands are on about when they talk about DNA and the like, but the store looks like. See more after the leap. (Think Silly)

Selectism - Nine-Tails-Store-Visit-02

We’ve decided to take a slight detour this week. Instead of the usual menswear goodness, we shot Nine Nails Tattoo parlour, the new shop just off Old Street. Tattoo fanatics should appreciate the the layout, images and, obviously, tattoos whilst the rest of you will appreciate the surprise.

Store Visit | Hostem

Selectism - Hostem-Store-Visit-02

[UFC announcer voice] It’s tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime![/UFC announcer voice]. This time we look at Hostem. It’s launched relatively recently but it’s now officially an established store on Redchurch street. Redchurch Street is what an estate agent would call ‘a great prospect of an area’ and Hostem is one of those stores that’s spearheaded the evolution. We remember when it was a mere puppy of a store, take a leap to see how the store’s looking these days.

Vanishing Elephant Store Opening

Selectism - vanishing-elephant-store-01

Vanishing Elephant have opened a store in Melbourne. It’s not exactly in our neck of the woods, but the world is a global village nowadays. And we’ve noticed that people are desperate for store shots to put on their tumblr, so here you are. The fact that the store looks great doesn’t hurt either. See for yourself after the leap.

Store Visit | 3939

Selectism - 3939-store-visit-01

We recently revisited the new home of 3939, which has moved from the time we showcased it in our Selectism Sessions series. Now based on Kingsland road (pop in if you’re in the area) they’ve shifted things around a bit and added a holographic ring installation that had this writer cooing like a buffoon. See more looks from the store after the leap.

Selectism - Drakes-store-visit-01

Next up in our store visit series are those new classicists Drakes. They’ve recently set up shop near Saville Row and we rocked up to see what it was all about. There’s no need for us to rant and rave here, take a leap to see what we saw.

Selectism - Trunk-Clothiers-01

We can’t stop, won’t stop with the store visits. Well, not until tomorrow, when we’ll give you all a rest from lovely store interiors. For now you’ll have to make do with London based Trunk Clothiers, a toddler of a store (compared to Anthem’s new born baby) which stocks the likes of Sunspel, Our Legacy, Beams Plus and Italian steezologists Boglioli.

Store Visit | Anthem

Selectism - Anthem 1

Next up in our store visit series is Anthem. Still a new born baby, we decided to shoot it because, well, it looks cool. Based in Shoreditch, it’s situated right in between other menswear favourites Ally Capellino and Present. Take a look at the store yourself after the leap.
