Let’s be honest about it: the current king of street fashion, and fuck it, we’ll throw streetwear into the fold, is Givenchy.

When two of the biggest names in modern music position Givenchy along with themselves on dueling totems inside sold-out arenas, it may a bit to the masses. But the truth is more discernible. Designer Riccardo Tisci and his team pattern their looks with distinct fits and textiles while throwing in graphics and patterns that seem to live in their own world – almost individual.

WWD has a fascinating article on how the women’s apparel industry that was strictly focused on feeding hip-hop culture with fabrics of fashion is going through a shift -almost growing pain- that is forcing a transition and adaptation to a new market. "Today, record sales are plummeting and many music artists’ lines are struggling. As hip-hop’s popularity has dropped, so has that of the apparel brands that rode the wave — labels like Deréon and JLo have gone through numerous reinventions…"
