Pitti | Barena Spring/Summer 2012

Selectism - Barena-spring-2012-09

Barena have been on our radar for a while, but we haven’t delved into the brand properly until today. As you’d expect for spring range showing at Pitti, it’s a lightweight linen affair but there’s enough subtle touches and patterns to move it away from blue suited uniformity. We also caught up with one of the owners, Francesca Zara for a quick Q&A about the brand, her favourite piece from her collection her love for the countryside.

Read it and look at more of the collection after the leap.

Loro Piana “Featherweight” for FSC Suit

Fox Soccer Channel? No, the other FSC. Freeman’s Sporting Club gets their own suit from Loro Piana. The “featherweight” suit jacket weighs just 14oz by using a combination “super 150’s Merino wool with a single filament of super 600’s silk.” Supposedly the lightest suit on the market today.

Band of Outsiders Suits

Selectism - Band of Outsiders Suits

We would like to remind you that Band of Outsiders offers some great suiting for those “more than casual” moments in your life. “Perfectly tailored and unmistakably youthful, Band creates the kind of timeless menswear that avoids stereotypical suit-and-tie dryness. As serious as it is schoolboyish, the LA label also leaves a ton of room to go as classic or as casual as you’d like. Whichever route you take, though, there’s one thing you won’t be able to avoid: looking devilishly good.”

A. Sauvage ‘000-1 -000-11′

30 July 2010, 13.30 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Selectism - a-sauvage-01

Style Salvage has news of A. Sauvage’s collection. A. Sauvage were the folks behind the ‘this is not a suit’ photographic series and they’ve just launched their debut collection, entitled ‘000-1 -000-11′. For those who had no idea what to expect, it’s traditional tailoring given a youthful boost – although not in that annoyingly skinny indie manner. Wide lapel lovers can rejoice, as this collection has them in spades. They’ve also made novel use of the wider tie; all whilst making sure the suit is tailored to today’s slimmer standards. All in all, these outfits are tailor-made (no pun intended, seriously) for those who love their Italian style.

Take a look at more of the collection after the leap.

Founded in 2003 by Ted Vadakan and graphic designer Angie Myung, Poketo fires up their up-cycling spirit for a collection of totes procured from men’s suits. “The two styles displayed here are Joe (in brown) and Nathan (in black). Made from second hand clothes, each Suit tote is one of a kind ─ mixture of wool suiting material and cotton shirt, even throwing in some silk occasionally; the handles are made from old leather sofa. Pockets are handy and made in just the right size to fit in iPad and such like.” (ts)

Selectism - N. Hoolywood Compile Line Suits

This post is for our readers who hate us for putting up garments from the Japanese market which are difficult to get your hands on. This is for the anti-proxy reader for whom the sport is too difficult to play. N. Hoolywood has made it’s way into Blackbird (again). It is now easier than ever for those in this hemisphere to get their hands on their wears. I’m profiling the suits for starters but spill into their page for more.
