Giorgio Armani for Chelsea FC

Selectism - Giorgio Armani for Chelsea FC

Yes, I know they lost in the penalty shoot-out today against a great Manchester United club, but the off field uniforms for the men in Blue (Chelsea if you have not determined that yet) comes from Giorgio Armani, an Italian. Vogue.com has a nice feature that also happens to mention that Manchester United were suited up off-field by Paul Smith.

Now, I love Paul Smith (maybe even more than Armani) but I really could not stomach the depression of having to write about the Red Devils. Congrats to them on the win, but lets give it up for Chelsea for doing something legendary after the departure of Mourinho. God bless and nice suits lads.

For more on the off field suit ups of both Chelsea and Man U, visit Vogue UK.

Selectism - Tom Ford the new suit of James Bond

Call it the end of a legacy. Since as far back as 1995, every James Bond expedition has had him suited up by Italian house, Brioni. But that legacy is about to change.

Times Online is reporting/confirming that Tom Ford International is now the choice tailor for the Bond character. Reporting from Panama Times Online mentions, “from its temporary base over there, which may well be underwater and made of glass, a spokesman admits that Tom Ford International will now be dressing Daniel Craig. Then, she appears to take fright, insisting that any announcement has to come from the designers themselves, and diving, fretfully, off the record.”

Other news outlets have reported that Daniel Craig has already torn through as many as 50 suits during the filming. We’ll see the outcome on the big screen shortly.

Selectism - Tony Ventresca on the "Classic American Style"

For anyone interested in the understanding the subtleties and  differentials in the classic American suit, head over to Tony Ventresca’s in depth article on Film Noir Buff. Tony’s article is as much a history lesson as it is a guide to mens suits. Important notes should be taken when reviewing the “Updated American Style” which has been seen as a response to the Italian cuts. A very good read that will lead to some most excellent and most upscale discussion during your next business outing.
