Saturdays Surf Summer 2010 Collection

selectism - Saturdays Surf Summer 2010 Collection

Saturdays Surf NYC has been a favorite stopping point during any of our Soho visits since they opened in the Spring of 2009. This summer the empire expands, just a little, with the launch of a full in-house collection. Designed by the trio of owners – Morgan Collett, Josh Rosen, and Colin Tunstall – the gear mixes surf and city. It is, as you’d imagine, casual and fun. Emphasis on shorts with well detailed knits.

Check out the full collection from Saturdays after the leap.

Warriors of Radness Spring 2010

selectism - Warriors of Radness Spring 2010

Surf-City lifestyle remains central in the Warriors of Radness Spring 2010 collection.

Based in Los Angeles, Warriors of Radness (WOR) draw from days at Malibu’s Surfrider Beach and nights exploring the multicultural environment that defines greater LA. Colorful, playful, and unique, WOR focuses on an imaginative view of modern beach style. The collection includes a range of graphic t-shirts, wealth of shorts, a variety of trousers and wovens, and a few zippy sweatshirts. For windy days, a nylon pullover tops things off.

Each piece in the collection follows on a live for the moment attitude indicative of the principles of Warriors of Radness. Don’t believe us? Check out the interview we published back in 2008, one of the early (if not first) features on WOR.

Warriors of Radness is available from Opening Ceremony, American Rag CIE, Oak, and Reserve.

Selectism - James Perse Surf and Paddle Boards

It feels like sports day at Selectism. When you’re like James Perse and have what many consider to the best the best quality basics line out there, you do your best to try something new. The ping-pong table was cool enough but the Perse surf and paddle boards seem even more friendly, but you’ll need an invite to order yours. “James Perse Surfboards are classically designed and hand shaped by one of Southern California’s most reputable shapers from the 60’s. Limited production and hand-crafted personal touch make for a performance board offering versatility and accuracy.” Hit them up if you are interested in these “designer toys.”

Maui and Sons for Opening Ceremony

19 April 2008, 01.55 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Selectism - Maui and Sons for Opening Ceremony

Classic surf brand, Maui and Sons, is relaunching with a hard push that carries heavily on their eighties roots in bright colored fashions. To help get things going, they have collaborated with Opening Ceremony on t-shirts and board shorts that re-use vintage Maui and Sons’ graphics and colors. Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon told R29, “I am highly anticipating the arrival of our Maui & Sons relaunch of the original pieces. I have been a huge fan of the brand since elementary school and to see some of the pieces that I have found in thrift stores all around the country being re-produced by the original company is super exciting.”

Available now at OAK and Opening Ceremony LA/NY.

NYT – A Little Older, but the Surf’s Still Up

Selectism - NYT - A Little Older, but the Surf’s Still Up

New York Times’s has a great article in their Fashion & Style section on Newport Beach’s Trovata. “The surf inspired clothing line has been a favorite went through some major changes in 2006. “Trovata’s carefree veneer peeled away like sunburned skin. Citing creative differences, the foursome split up: Messrs. Halmos and Shipley went off to design a line; Mr. Lamberto-Egan moved to the Pacific Northwest with his girlfriend; and Mr. Whitledge assumed the role of president and sole creative director of the line.”
