Raglan sleeves, a slightly more relaxed collar and elasticated wider cuffs and hem, all part of OL’s 50’s America inspired line. Soft, lightweight cotton, as with anything in the ’sweats’ family, this couldn’t be easier to wear. You’ll be so comfortable you may have trouble leaving the house. This is a technically a streetwear piece but you know the drill by now, the lines are blurring, it’s all one jumble, yada yada. This Sevigny/Opening Ceremony/Vision Streetwear collaboration is basically the ’90s distilled into a single garment. And like Chloe Sevigny, it looks a bit odd but it works. Opening Ceremony has it.

We pulled this one from the James Perse Resort collection for me. This heathered funnel-neck sweatshirt is made in Los Angeles, as much of the Perse collection. The sweatshirt features a loose funnel neck kangaroo jump pocket on the front and a raw edge detail on the cuff.

At $175, this sweatshirt is on the higher end of the spectrum, but well worth. Perse is known for killer basics. This is no exception. Think comfort, softness, and a premium casual garment. Find James Perse online.

8485 preview the Champion Reverse Weave collection designed for the Japanese market. Yeah, sorry about that non-Japan residents.

A million miles from their USA counterparts, this range takes it cue from 50s and 60s athletic wear as well as military issue garments. Hoodies, sweatshirts and track pants sit alongside more unexpected items such as the navy peacoat and shawl collar cardigan. The fabric has that heavy knit feel, these sweats are made to withstand the cold and demonstrate the whole collection has that repro feel, with the Japanese division digging deep into the archives for these classic pieces.

Well, a bit collegiate we shall say. The new Raf Simons autumn sweatshirts could be from anyone based on the design. The simple block lettering suggests pulls from the university life. The quality and fit speak otherwise: “Made from a super soft structured fabric and available in three colorways, these sweaters perfectly express the designer’s take on volume and proportion, embracing a short, boxy silhouete best paired with slim fitting bottoms for added emphasis.” Por Vocacao has them.

If you’ve read this site before you’ll know we’ve got a thing for sweatshirts. We could blow on about their history but who cares really? We like ‘em because they look good and we look good in them.  And you can never have enough stuff that makes you look good nahmean? Classic with a twist is the most overused phrase in menswear but there are times when it fits. This is one of them. (LN-CC)

We have to admit to being a little seduced by the name here. Be honest though, it’s the same for everyone, be it Nigel Cabourn or Lanvin. And who wouldn’t want a bit of Dries in their wardrobe? And if you are gonna make a seductive purchase, you might as well pick a staple instead of an ostentatious piece you’ll fall out of love with in a couple of months. (LN-CC)
