We take a look at what’s on offer for Spring Summer 2012 from Sweden’s Gram. “Gram is all about making sophisticated sneakers…Our roots lie in the Scandinavian design aesthetic; design with clean lines and attention to details. Each model being unique in its own simplicity.”

Their prize shoe for the season is the 380g Insjöns navy runner shown above. The heavy duty linen fabric is created by Anette, weavers of incredible textiles since the 40s and suppliers to the Swedish Royal Court no less. We brought you the first installment of this collaboration between C-Store , Sandqvist and Ekstedt in an earlier post. Here we feature its Khaki brother.

Both apron and bag made with heavy duty canvas and featuring leather detailing, this one’s for the butcher/carpenter/wild-eyed barman in your life. You see this time round they’ve recruited photographer Salvatore Scappini and the mysterious drinkmaker/chef of back door club Kåken to produce some vodka soaked images in celebration of part two of this release. This guy looks like he could make a mean martini whilst sawing a mini van in half, all kitted out in this tough guy collab.

It is fucking cold in New England. In fact, if youre reading this site in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s probably cold there too. To ease the pain, I threw on some long underwear before heading out of the house. It would seem like Core77, has cold on the mind too with their current profile of Sweden’s Woolpower, thermal layer company. Here’s a snippet from the profile. “Woolpower garments are almost absurdly thin compared to other thermals I’ve owned, yet kept me super-warm in below-freezing conditions. I could layer them easily without reducing my mobility, without feeling like my own clothes were choking me, and without that Michelin-man feeling that I have to turn sideways to get through a doorway. The absence of lengthwise seams made them comfortable against the skin, with no chafing.”

Earlier this month we previewed Sweden’s Our Legacy “Swing of the Pendulum” Collection which focused on the cut and sew varieties of menswear. As a followup up to the “Pendulum” collection we present you with the Our Legacy “Illustrated Line” which focuses on printed matter t-shirt offering of ‘illustrated’ goods for Spring/Summer 2008. Expect much more from this line in the seasons to come. We’re keeping eyes on them.

We first ran into Gram Shoes of Stockholm at NY’s (capsule) winter show up on the third floor. Since April 2005, Gram has been developing shoes that “are not intended to steal the show or force you to throw away your entire wardrobe.”

Businessweek.com is reporting that Sweden’s fashion world is becoming a little smaller. Hennes & Mauritz AB (better known as H&M) has purchased Fabric Scandinavia AB, makers of Cheap Money denim.

The deal which would give H&M a 60% stake in Fabric Scandinavia also includes retail outlets Monki and Weekday.

One can only assume that the purchase is meant to help strengthen H&M’s denim offering inside their retail chains, as they continue to compete with the likes of GAP and UNIQLO worldwide.

Sweden’s Rickard Lindqvist “Assymetrical Cardigan” for S/S 08 may throw the balance off for some, but when but when buttoned closed, give the garment a bunched bulk feel. Some may try to warn you of a misguided buttoning technique. Others will appreciate the unique silhouette that such construction can bring. Available now at Tresbienshop.

Swedish brand Gram Design has made a name for itself in the footwear market. Unlike other brands, they had quite an innovative/creative idea of naming their various shoe models – according to weight. All their shoes are called after their weight in grams.

The footwear comes in interesting materials and patterns, but is mostly not the athletic, but dressy side. In their A/W ‘07 collection the brand expanded as well into knitwear, presenting a nice small selection of quality knitwear with designs on them!
