Selectism - edifice-one-seven-tee-shirt-01

We’re sure we’re being anally retentive about details right now, but we really like how the stripes are placed on the pocket of this pocket tee. Yep, we really just said that. And we mean it too, it makes all the difference in this world of conservative dressing we’re currently living in. Also, it’s from Japan, which is reason enough for us to like anything. Wheelmen & Co.

selectism - wheelmen & co

Jeff and I both have CT roots. We both like bicycles.

Wheelmen & Co. has CT roots. It is predicated on a love of bicycles.

They make simple and useful products like belts, hip bags, and messenger satchels. The company is a labor of love for two Southern Connecticut lads with a passion for graphic design and one great-grandfather that was the first bicycle repairman in Ireland. Another great-grandfather is subject of their finest t-shirt – an ode to Charles E. Heydt, first president of the Greenwhich Wheelmen Bike Club.

Family tradition and contemporary needs are the basic ingredients to the brand, which doesn’t reach too far or get overly fancy. A few of our favorites follow.

Selectism - Shabd "Aurora" Hand-Dyed T-Shirt

Here’s a 108$US hand dyed t-shirt from Shabd. Now you may be wondering why a tie-dye shirt would cost so much especially when you can purchase Shabd Aurora Hand Dyed T Shirt one of many kits and have fun on your own. But the reality is, those first attempts will be a bitch to get right (at least for me they were). Shabd makes it look easy and wearable. Hickoree’s has them.

selectism - Saturdays Surf Summer 2010 Collection

Saturdays Surf NYC has been a favorite stopping point during any of our Soho visits since they opened in the Spring of 2009. This summer the empire expands, just a little, with the launch of a full in-house collection. Designed by the trio of owners – Morgan Collett, Josh Rosen, and Colin Tunstall – the gear mixes surf and city. It is, as you’d imagine, casual and fun. Emphasis on shorts with well detailed knits.

Check out the full collection from Saturdays after the leap.

Sunspel Striped Crew Neck T-Shirt

Selectism - sunspel-striped-crew-neck-t-shirt

We’ll spare you the boring ‘basics are king’ spiel, but we have been on the lookout for a good, well-made crew neck striped tee lately. This Sunspel tee fits the bill as it’s well made, affordable – depending on your mental price limit for a t-shirt – and, to top it all off, locally produced. But most of all, it looks good and you’ll look good wearing it. (Sunspel)

Selectism - Bumpy Pitch, Five Four England vs. USA World Cup 2010 T-Shirts

June 12th people. While many of our editors may be Anglo centric in the battle (which I find ridiculous since one of them actually lives in Philadelphia – the home of the big bell and 1776 Congressional Congress which made a bunch of rag tag colonies into what is now the USA). Either way, an epic pitch war will erupt. You might as well show your allegiance via one of these Bumpy Pitch x Five Four shirts.
