PicNYC Table

Selectism - picnyc-table-01

Made by Haiko Cornelissen Archtecten, this PicNYC table is designed for the urban farmer in you. Or maybe it’ll inspire the urban farmer in you, it’d be hard to ignore it with grass on your table. The grass is meant to offer the experience of picnicking inside, and you’ll have to do upkeep on the grass  – which will be fun depending on how green your fingers are. (Architizer)

Iko Table from Jardan

Selectism - iko-table-01-curatedmag

Curated turns us onto another piece from Jardan:

“New from Jardan, the Iko Table finds designer Nick Garnham playing with ideas of “tropical luxury.” For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the table set brings a little Australian Summer to our increasingly cold winter. The solid wood legs compliment patterned marble tops – which come in a variety of types and sizes. As always, Jardan is dedicated to sustainable material and ecological design.”

Pac-Man Arcade 30th Anniversary Authentic Cocktail Table

Pac-Man Arcade 30th Anniversary Authentic Cocktail Table

We all know that Ms. Pac-Man beats the pants off of this game but we must give respect to the father of all things familiar. “Made by Namco, designers of the original Pac-Man video game, this arcade cocktail table commemorates the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man and is identical to the cabinets played in pizza parlors and malls since the 1980s. The console provides the same head-to-head gameplay, original graphics, and classic “Wocka, wocka, wocka” sound as the arcade games that helped establish Pac-Man as the most popular video game of all-time.” $3500 gets you this prize just in time for the holidays. Studio Roeper Furniture

selectism - studio roeper

From Curated -

Founded by Florian Roeper, Studio Roeper handcrafts small batch high-end furnishings. Based in Oakland, the firm pairs earthy materials with clean lines (and occasionally metals) to produce objects that are at once contemporary and warm. Of particular note are the coffee tables in the core collection. These articulate the Studio’s mission directly, with a soft industrial aesthetic (if that makes sense). The Zinc table is above.

Benches and more after the jump.

CuldeSac “Welding Wood”

selectism - CuldeSac Welding Wood

Given a sincere love for turned wood, CuldeSac’s contemporary appropriation of lathe turning, joinery and steam bending techniques have immediate appeal. The Spanish design agency treats the traditional methods with great respect, managing as well to incorporate a non-traditional line to the legs. Titled “Welding Wood,” the line is limited to stools and a low table. Simple, handsome furniture. (via Contemporist).

Creo Concrete Studio

curated mag - Creo Concrete Studio

Creo Concrete Studio began as a collaborative effort between Maysun Wells and Eric Green. The two Californian’s understand well the inherent potential of concrete to produce beautiful forms. Their outdoor furniture, inlayed with cut glass or ammonite, is far cry from Brutalism. The chairs, tables, fire pits, and benches take soft, warm form, with an emphasis on curve and geometric shapes. (via Contemporist).

Further examples follow.

Studio Oooms Stamp Table

selectism - Studio Oooms Stamp Table

An often overused term in describing furniture, playful works a charm when discussing the work of Studio Oooms. Their Stamp Table is pierced along the center, inviting desire to split it with a swift karate chop. For them, the holes are reference to less aggressive means of detachment – the perforated edges of stamps. Regardless, the table stands as one of the more subdued designs from the Eindhoven-based studio. Other products include a Vermeer quoting ceramic dildo, a carpet splattered with road kill, and a rebellious cabinet that refuses to close.

It’s Nice That featured the Studio Oooms rockers earlier in the week. While in keeping with the firms output, those mentioned here are more indicative of their playful spirit.

Dildo and more after the jump.

Emiliano Godoy’s Flex Collection

04 December 2009, 16.30 | Posted in Design | No comments »

curated mag - Emiliano Godoy's Flex Collection

Designed for Mexico City-based Pirwi, the Flex Collection is built through the creation of a twisted plywood formed mesh. The pieces are delicate, yet structurally very strong. The resulting stool, bench, and coffee table maintain undulating lines and patterns that support seats and (in the case of the new coffee table) a glass top. The table is the gem, with slender recessed legs that magnify the overall light feel.

The Flex Collection comes from the mind of Emiliano Godoy. The bench and stool can be viewed after the jump. (via Contemporist and Curated).

curated mag - Pinch Design Studio

Pinch Design Studio was founded in 2004 by the husband and wife team of Russel Pinch and Oona Bannon. Their furnishings are hand made to order, each piece designed to work in both the home and contract spaces. Pinch began his career after graduating from Ravensbourne College of Design, working for Sir Terrence Conran. In 1995 he became Conran’s Senior Product Designer. With Pinch Design Studio, Russel and Oona aim to deliver graceful and iconic designs with the hope of engaging in the space rather than dominating. (via Curated).

Yatzer has posted a full profile of Pinch. Some more examples from the studio after the jump.
