As much as we enjoy those folk soundtracked, atmospheric, slow fade factory tours, sometimes it’s nice just to be shown around a place and hear ‘that’s where we keep the sewing machines, this is how we make our goods.’ This straightforward  tour, produced by Style Ledger and brought to us via OEN, takes us around tailor Martin Greenfield’s Brooklyn premises. P.Johnson-03

A peek at P.Johnson’s current lookbook. Founder Patrick Johnson left his native Australia to study fashion at St. Martins and eventually found himself under the apprenticeship of English tailor, Robert Emmett.

Schooled in the ways of Savile Row, Patrick took his new found skills back to his homeland and began his label. The serious business of the bespoke suit is injected with a bit of good humour, offering a more approachable service Patrick manages to balance modern and classic brilliantly. Aside from the sinister masks, the choice of colours and fabrics and that perfect cut are what really caught our eye.

Selectism - Savile Row tailors lose fight for term 'bespoke'

Telegraph UK writes about the losing fight by Savile Row Tailor to preserve the use of the term ‘bespoke’ which has been gaining popularity in more commercial suit retailers – even though their suits are truly made by hand. "The Advertising Standards Authority has dismissed a complaint that labelling clothes which have been cut from a template as bespoke is misleading… The word was coined by tailors on Savile Row, London, in the 17th century and referred to a suit which was hand-crafted from a single bolt of cloth without the use of a pre-existing pattern."
