selectism - burberry-telegraph-01

The Telegraph has an interesting article on accessories for men. Written by Fantastic Man’s Charlie Porter, the article eschews the usual newspaper approach to mens accessories (also known as the ‘we don’t do that, we’re blokes’ approach) for some considered picks from the best of menswear. "The Advertising Standards Authority has dismissed a complaint that labelling clothes which have been cut from a template as bespoke is misleading… The word was coined by tailors on Savile Row, London, in the 17th century and referred to a suit which was hand-crafted from a single bolt of cloth without the use of a pre-existing pattern."

Selectism - Men's Jeans Need Pleats

London’s  Telegraph published an intereesting editorial on the state of mens jeans calling out for a move away from the “drainpipe” look and for designers ot start considering the over-30 crowd. “Added to the woes of the average jean-seeker, brands such as Cheap Monday and American Apparel have pushed drainpipes, a cut that gives a spray-on look that requires an underfed frame, so it’s not one that many over the age of 30 need attempt.” Writer Charlie Porter (who is also Associate editor at GQ UK) sings the praises of Acne’s “The Gentleman’s Jean.”
