Ah yes, The Generic Man returns with a collection slightly larger than past collection. The West Coast based brand stands proud with it’s old silhouettes by mixing up the finish and color while retaining some carryover SKU’s including the Savant, Tuxman,  Academy, and the Tuxman, of course. “All generic man footwear is crafted using the finest Italian materials, handmade in Portugal.” Dig through these photo and look for more colors and styles once they land in stores.

If we were American, we might pay attention to the ‘no white after labour day’ rule. But we’re not, so we won’t. In fact, we’re just gonna come out and say it – we’re still not sure what Labour day. And no, we’re not bothered enough to google it. Ignorance is bliss.

But back to the case in point. White shoes have gained a fearsomely dandyish repuation that has scared most people off it altogether. If you’re a dandy – great. You’ve probably already got several pairs of white shoes and have ordered this pair without even reading what we’re saying. If not however, then don’t be scared – just think of them as smart white trainers. (Revolve)

Autumn footwear is heating up nicely with many lines taking a more modern approach. While many lines are remaining on track or planning “continuations” of their classic looks, The Generic Man continues to experiment with fabrics and colors on their various silhouettes, giving them a very unique look in the crowd.  We bring your a first look at The Generic Man Autumn 2009 collection. Our favorite, The Chuckman, returns in a variety of colorways (shown above), but for those who want to remain traditional, be sure and check the patent black Tux model with it’s double overlay upper. The Spring 2009 Steven Alan by The Generic Man Collection brings back the casual laid back slip-on to more individual place. Each slip-on is hand painted on base canvas in either black, white, or grey upper. Look for them in January 2009 at Steven Alan stores in New York and Los Angeles.

The people behind The Generic Man line extend the options for the Svant Shoe offering with two new patent leather models. you can have the Savants in either grey or camel patent leather. Interestingly enough, the patent grey Savants would go very well with my zombie prom costume which I plan to rock tomorrow night.  Find them both in November exclusively through the Mohawk General Store opening November 1 in Echo Park Los Angeles.

Time for some fresh footwear for the Fall and Winter. The Generic Man has unleashed their seasonal collection for 2008 and 2009 Fall/Winter which consists of eight different models in a variety of colors and fabrics. Mochman is killing it for us here in the office as is the Sportsman. We love the hi-tops, dammit.

The Generic Man Pop-Up Store at Hollywood Trading inside Fred Segal in Santa Monica. This first install is a preview to the full Re-Edit series being released on August 23rd featuring the The Generic Man’s new "green" series which features vintage military materials. 

Be sure to visit before August 23 for pre-launches of Grey Canvas Chuckmans (available now) and Black Canvas Chuckmans on August 14th.

The Generic Man is one of the newcomer shoe brands that we have been closely watching in previous seasons and so far we can only say that we are very pleased with their collections.

Now they got together with another favorite of ours, Steven Alan. They created a nice hybrid Fall/Winter shoe. The upper looks like a boat shoe, but instead of low in a mid size. They added a nice premium leather cover to the mid-sole and gave the shoe a water and weather resistant outer sole.

What can we say? We love it. It looks great and fulfills its purpose. The shoe comes in suede and will be available in navy, black, green and grey (we do not have an image of this colorway).
