The above shades from Thom Browne’s Autumn/Winter 2012 men’s collection are a rather aggressive specimen. It would be difficult to put them on and not be affected by their BMX brat leather side cups or those arms that wrap back around your ear, putting notions of flashy adventure in your ear. Damn, this is some really strong coffee.

Continuing a relationship with Dita that remains very fruitful indeed, this collection brags two distinct looks: the jazzy number we just talked about and a more reserved and elegant aviator. We are most intrigued by the women’s frames pictured below, however. Nice round tortoiseshell specs that look fit for the man who loosens his tie a bit and calmly talks his friend in the wild goggles down out of a tree with a “Now see here, old boy …”

What’s happening here then? Canadian store Roden Gray present their Spring/Summer 2012 stock via this mysterious film. Showcasing labels such as Junya Watanabe, Thom Browne and Alden, cinematographer Peter Hagge captures actor John J. Mackie, our hero/villain, on a rainy Vancouver night. Whisky + Face Splashing + Furrowed Brow = Something’s up. Hats off to Roden on a quality production.

Oklahoma’s Color Me Badd made the oval sunglass famous back in the 1990’s and in 2012 they’re back with a strong arm ready to re-take their crown as the eyewear of choice. The special edition collection of DITA eyewear, worked over by the hands of Thom Browne features a slew of oval sunglasses alongside various other shapes. Clip-ons play a strong role as well. The DITA x Thom Browne collection is massive; more than 60 combinations make up the looks.

Is the normal type of runway show a bit boring for you?

I don’t know, it’s the way I do them.

You’ve said before that an outfit needs to be a little bit “off” in order to work. How come?

Well, especially in a show, you definitely want to make sure that there is something that opens people’s eyes and makes them think. But when you make something really seriously and you also show it seriously I think it becomes really boring. I think when you have something that just throws it off a bit it makes it more interesting.

Does that also count for your own look and the way you dress yourself?

I’ve been in the same thing from the beginning. This is what I like and this will never change. I really wanted to take tailored clothing for guys and make it not look so boring. …

A mixed stripe blazer from Thom Browne’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Turning something which could’ve been quite ordinary into something a little special, stripes in varying directions manage to come off bold rather than wacky. 100% wool, high fastening, pearlescent buttons and the trademark Thom Browne tab. “The glamour and decadence of early 20th century cabaret clubs were a large influence on Thom Browne’s traditional,American, tailored aesthetic this season.” Find it at Oki ni.

Wingtips come in all forms. Thom Browne does his with signature stripes; this pair on the sole. The real win on this pair of Browne’s is the pebbled leather upper. It is pretty damn beautiful in person. The price-tag is high but in some manner, you know what you are buying into. SOTO has them.

We move deeper into the void with the great Thom Browne. His mainline Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, is an incredible jock-freak takeover that I honestly love. If you plan on going conceptual, go fucking hard, but retain that touch of the wearable, which is evident when you look beyond those nails and broad shoulders. As usual, we applaud the weird. As one person in our office said, “It reminds us of the guy who always plays the creepy guy.”

This week Tokyo celebrates Fashion Night Out. For the occasion many international designers came out, many special events were held and the city was just all around in a fashion mood, not that Tokyo needs any more of that.

New York designer Thom Browne has released a limited edition tie for the occasion. It comes in his classic light grey suit fabric and of course with the tricolor branding. An instant classic. Mathieu from Materialiste picked one up and also modeled it here above.

Baseball jackets aren’t always the easiest to wear, it may say 50’s in your head but put it on and suddenly things have turned a bit ‘Saved by the bell’. If you’re still looking for that perfect fit this ’shrunken’ style Thom Browne number might be just what you’re looking for. Burgundy wool body with contrast grey leather sleeves, this sharper cut is just that bit easier to wear and might avoid any 80’s style mishaps. Bergdorf has them.
