HS reports in on the latest works for the Converse 100th Anniversary celebration. This round we see a great Jack Purcell deisgned Thome Browne which features a suede liner, a colorful upper, and white toecap and sole. The pattern on the upper of the Purcell is none other than Thom Browne’s own trimming, as our friends at ACL point out.

The Nusraty Afghan Imports storefront at Bleeker and Christopher Streets has been sitting empty since the store shuttered in August, waiting for the arrival of the Brooks Brothers’ fashion-forward line Black Fleece from Thom Browne. Now, after two months of no development, there are igns of life. In the window, there’s a sign announcing the change and promising a fall opening. Knowing Mr.Browne, it should be interesting. Thom Browne’s Spring/Summer 2009 runway shows was clearly more subdued than past shows. The tennis themed show presented the news looks in a manner that adhered to the strict guidelines of the gentleman’s racquet sport. No over the top stage show this time around. They play was on vest suits and mens shorts with a dash of mini-dresses tossed in. Our favorite look included a below the crotch waist short trouser. You have to see it. Brooks will also reveal plans to open the first freestanding Black Fleece store in Greenwich Village…"

Thome Browne knows how to throw a runway show. Not settling after his fantastic beach inspired Spring 08 show, his Fall 2008 show is inspiring visions of the classic bigtop; make me want to throw in some old episode of the ill fated Carnivale show on HBO (bring it back!).

Initially looking very un-wearable, the collection does offer details in tailoring that should (deservingly) find their way onto new garment forms.  Favorites include the sleeveless sweater, scarves, and the siamese mens trousers (photos via iluwfashion).
