More form the big Q. This time we look at the Tim Hamilton collection for Spring 2012 which they describe as “Blade Runner meets loungewear.” With a slight industrial take on fashion, Mr. Hamilton looks to bring a casual touch to the forward modern space that encompasses these looks.

Tim Hamilton delivers looks at the forthcoming REDUX collection for Autumn/Winter 2011. “Wardrobe staples, including suiting and outerwear have been tweaked, moving the silhouette forward and playfully bending menswear conventions. Once again, colors were chosen to make a statement, from deep reds to imperial blue punctuated with stripes and abstract patterns. The interplay between textures is also emphasized with HAMILTON layering soft Japanese fabrics, heavy knits and innovative tailoring.”

We kinda like this and we kinda don’t. On one hand, we like the 2 colours and think it could look cool on the right person (that right person being anyone with a bit of confidence about themselves). On the other hand, you do run the risk of looking like it’s something you made from a bunch of your old discarded jackets. Tim Hamilton takes his sportswear to Bergdorf Goodman for this capsule collection occupying their 3rd floor. The highly casual fashions offer some downtime looks for the busy guy. “The capsule consists of Hamilton standards like the hoodie, the polo, the thermal sweater, and the cardigan, everyday iconic staples made fresh by the designer’s rigorous eye for design and construction. Dazed gets Tim Hamilton to talk about the forthcoming Spring 2011 collection as well as some exclusive looks. “Dazed presents the new film from American fashion designer, Tim Hamilton – showcasing his new Redux collection for Spring/Summer as shot by longtime collaborator Collier Schorr. Inspired by the American Northwest and artist Michael Borremans, the new Redux line sees minimal shapes and colours with a new take on tailoring.”

Looking for a polo with a strong blast on the chest? Tim Hamilton’s “redux” polo shirt may do the trick. “Navy pique cotton short sleeved polo shirt with a contrasting black panel that fastens with buttons at the waist. This shirt has an oversized embossed logo of a fir tree stitched onto a velvet surround.” Oki-ni has them.

Tim Hamilton’s Spring 2011 collection has also hit the web via lookbook images. The very structured collection features waist ties which seem to work for both the ambitious and restrained dressers. “Hamilton came to a concise collection of form and utility after looking to the work of Belgian artist Michaël Borremans for inspiration. Whereas Borremans’ work was abstract in its representation of individuals, Hamilton sought to present his idealized man in a similar fashion. Deconstructing the suit and dressing it in stationary colors, the spring collection breaks with the monotony of tradition for an overall look that arrives at progressive new terms with ease.” (fashionisto)

NYT “The Moment” blog gets their hands on one of the two videos shown by Tim Hamilton during his fashion week party recently. “The short film …  featured music by Björn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn and John) and John Hill (Santogold’s producer), and was projected on big screens at a party where everyone milled around slinging back a few Stellas.” The second movie “Rope” will hopefully be available soon.
